This article contains spoilers for One Piece‘s Final Saga.
Usopp is a key character in *One Piece*, serving as the sniper for the Straw Hat Pirates. He was also one of the original five pirates introduced at the start of the series, known as the East Blue Five. Usopp is often portrayed as a coward, but he dreams of becoming a courageous warrior. His many contradictions make him a relatable and beloved character. Despite often facing challenges in the story, the author, Oda, seems to have significant future plans for Usopp, potentially even giving him his own crew by the end of the series.
Usopp Will Form The Usopp Pirates
- He Wants To Become A Brave Warrior of the Sea
- Usopp Calls Himself Captain
One Piece fans are familiar with Usopp’s strong desire to be a pirate. Even before joining Luffy, he dreamed of following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a renowned pirate. He also aspires to be a courageous warrior of the sea, a goal he shares with the Giants of Elbaf.
As of this day, the Usopp Pirates have officially been disbanded! — Usopp in the Syrup Village arc
I remember during the Syrup Village arc, Usopp actually formed his own pirate crew, the Usopp Pirates. A lot of people laughed it off, but he was completely sincere about wanting to be a captain. It was clear becoming a leader was a real dream for him, which you could even see in how he initially thought of himself as the captain of the Straw Hats. He’s traveling with Luffy now, but I have a feeling that won’t last forever. I think eventually, Usopp will set off to build his own crew and truly become a captain.
Usopp Will Command a Crew Of 8,000 Men
Usopp’s Lies Come True
Usopp is famous among One Piece fans for surprisingly having his lies come true. He’s repeatedly claimed to be the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, which isn’t accurate, but it’s likely he’ll eventually become a captain by forming his own crew.
Usopp deeply values being a proud pirate and isn’t likely to change that. He’s probably going to build a strong crew and eventually sail the seas as he pleases. The author, Oda, seems to have a specific number in mind for the crew’s size – around 8,000 members – so that’s likely how many there will be.
I have 8,000 men under my command! — Usopp
Usopp Will Definitely Be A Captain
As *One Piece* nears its conclusion, it seems the Straw Hat Pirates will eventually go their separate ways, returning to their homes. But I have a strong feeling Usopp’s story won’t end there. He’ll probably embark on a brand new adventure – the sea clearly has a hold on him! Throughout the recent arc, it’s become really clear how much he dreams of being a great captain. I wouldn’t be surprised if his loyal friends, Ninjin, Piiman, and Tamanegi, joined him, and maybe even Kaya, who could potentially become the ship’s doctor and a pirate herself.
I’m looking forward to the next One Piece chapter, 1162, which is scheduled to come out next week, as always on a Sunday. For those in Japan, it’ll be available at midnight on Monday, but most of us internationally will be able to read it on October 12th, 2025. Good news is, it’s free to read on Manga Plus when it’s released!
