My Hero Academia Confirms Its Successor

This post contains spoilers for My Hero Academia.

Kohei Horikoshi’s *My Hero Academia* is a hugely popular manga series enjoyed by fans worldwide. It started in 2014 and has quickly become a global phenomenon, continuing to gain popularity even today.

The manga finished in 2024, which disappointed many readers, though most were satisfied with how the story concluded. Even though it’s over, *My Hero Academia* remains incredibly popular, and continues to attract new fans.

Kagurabachi Is My Hero Academia’s Successor

Kagurabachi Is Shonen Jump’s Next Big Hit

  • Kagurabachi has already sold over 3 million copies
  • An anime adaptation could be announced soon

My Hero Academia and Kagurabachi recently teamed up for a special collaboration! Takeru Hokazono, the creator of Kagurabachi, drew a picture of My Hero Academia’s Izuku Midoriya, and in return, My Hero Academia’s Kohei Horikoshi created a drawing of Kagurabachi’s Chihiro. Hokazono’s illustration was a fantastic homage to Horikoshi, a highly influential manga artist. Horikoshi’s drawing of Chihiro will likely boost Kagurabachi’s popularity by introducing it to My Hero Academia fans.

The recent crossover between My Hero Academia and Kagurabachi is being seen by many as a hint that Kagurabachi might be positioned to take over as the next big manga series after My Hero Academia. This has sparked a lot of discussion among anime fans, with many wondering if Kagurabachi is strong enough to fill that role.

It’s a huge challenge to replace a popular series like My Hero Academia, which has sold over 100 million copies. To even be considered a successor, Kagurabachi needs to achieve similar sales figures. Currently, Kagurabachi has sold over 3 million copies – a solid start, but it needs to sell much more. It’s important to remember that Kagurabachi only has nine volumes out and hasn’t been adapted into an anime yet. An anime adaptation could significantly boost its popularity and sales.

Kagurabachi’s Anime Adaptation Could Be Announced Soon

Kagurabachi Needs An Anime To Grow In Popularity

Rumors are swirling that an anime adaptation of Kagurabachi might be announced soon. A website domain for the series was recently registered, and this often happens right before a big announcement – like with the Sekiro anime, where a domain registration sparked rumors before the official reveal. This suggests we could hear official confirmation about a Kagurabachi anime in the next few weeks.

Rumors suggest that Cygames Pictures, the studio behind popular anime like *Uma Musume*, *The Summer That Hikaru Died*, and *Apocalypse Hotel*, will be animating the series. Given the high quality of their previous work, this would likely result in a fantastic adaptation of Kagurabachi. Even if an announcement takes a while, Cygames Pictures has enough projects to fill the next five months.

It’s fall 2025, and a whole bunch of new anime series have started appearing on streaming services. I’ve been checking them out, and a few really jumped out at me: Season 3 of One Punch Man, Season 8 of My Hero Academia, the sixth season of Kingdom, and the third season of Spy x Family. It’s clear these shows have all gained huge, dedicated fan bases over the last few years, and I can see why!

After the Fall 2025 anime season ends, the Winter 2026 season will begin with a fantastic lineup of shows. January will bring new seasons of popular titles like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Hell’s Paradise, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Oshi no Ko. Plus, the Steel Ball Run anime is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2026. You can expect high quality from all of these shows, so you won’t be disappointed!
