Leaker Claims Xbox Magnus APU Will Outperform PS6 Hardware But Raise Console Costs
A recent YouTube video from hardware leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead details AMD’s upcoming processor for the next Xbox, nicknamed ‘Magnus.’ According to the leak, Magnus is expected to be significantly more powerful than the processor in the PS6, and will be the most powerful processor ever used in a gaming console. It’s predicted to have a massive 68 RDNA 5 processing units, up to 11 CPU cores, and potentially up to 48GB of fast GDDR7 memory. Previously, Moore’s Law Is Dead reported the PS6 would have up to 48 RDNA 5 units and eight CPU cores, giving the Xbox a clear advantage in terms of specifications. While this should translate to slightly better performance, the leaker suggests the difference might be less noticeable on larger TVs compared to playing on a monitor.
The video indicates the next Xbox will likely be expensive, possibly costing between $800 and $1,200 due to its powerful hardware. This comes after Microsoft already increased the prices of the Xbox Series X and S, as well as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, the new Xbox might be designed to compete more with PCs than with the PlayStation 6.
The latest reports about the next Xbox suggest it will be more similar to a gaming PC than traditional consoles, which aligns with previous speculation. However, until Microsoft officially confirms details, everything remains uncertain. Current estimates point to a potential release in 2027, but even that date isn’t confirmed yet.
