Glenn Israel, who spent over 17 years working on the Halo franchise at 343 Industries, has left the company. He posted a warning on LinkedIn advising others in the gaming industry to ‘stay strong and document everything’.
He explained he can’t discuss the details of the situation beyond a brief update, but promised to share more about what happened next year, when it’s safe to do so.
‘The State of Our Industry Seems Dire’
In a post on LinkedIn, Glenn Israel, former Art Director at 343 Industries (Halo Studios) wrote:
Today marks the end of my 17-year journey working on the Halo universe. I can’t share many details right now, but I plan to tell the full story next year when the time is right. For now, I want to share a message with everyone who’s been following along.
Things might look tough in our field right now, but remember you always have a choice. Don’t sacrifice your well-being, principles, or integrity for any false sense of security or the lure of success. No one can make you compromise those things. Stay resilient, rely on facts when you need to, and find a place where you feel you truly belong.
As always, I’ll be here if you need to talk.
Israel probably signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) when he left Halo Studios. This is standard practice to prevent developers from talking about their work or the reasons for their departure.

So, I’ve been hearing some really exciting rumors about Halo! Apparently, a studio called Virtuos is working with 343 Industries on a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The buzz is that we might finally get a first look at it during the Halo World Championship event later this month. I’m seriously hoping it’s true – a remake of the first Halo would be incredible!
