PlayStation Plus is having a great run as we head into the last few months of the year. Following a summer filled with fantastic games and a celebration of 15 years of PS Plus, the service is kicking off the spooky season with a popular addition: the critically acclaimed survival-horror sequel *Alan Wake 2* is now available as part of October’s Essential selections.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can expect to learn the full lineup of games for the Extra and Premium tiers next Wednesday, October 15th. However, details have already begun to leak. Reliable industry insider Billbil-kun has revealed that last year’s popular *Silent Hill 2 Remake* will be added to the PS Plus Extra tier. Considering Billbil-kun’s accurate history, this news is likely true, and it suggests Sony may be planning a complete set of horror games for PS Plus this month.
Just a heads-up for horror fans: two games, *The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes* and *The Devil in Me*, will be removed from the service on October 21st.
Silent Hill 2 Remake Coming to PS Plus Extra for October 2025 Tees Up a Potential ‘Triple Crown’ of Horror Titles

A Recent Resident Evil Game Coming to PS Plus Alongside Alan Wake 2 and Silent Hill 2 Remake for October 2025 Would Be the Perfect Fit
Adding *Alan Wake 2* and the *Silent Hill 2 Remake* to PS Plus is great news! However, many PlayStation fans are wondering why *Resident Evil Village* and the *Resident Evil 4 Remake* haven’t been added yet, as they’ve been frequently requested. Considering Capcom and Sony have a good working relationship and previous *Resident Evil* games have been available on the service – including *Resident Evil 2* and *3* earlier this year – it feels like a good time to include at least one of those titles in either the PS Plus Extra or Premium tiers.
As a brief breakdown of these four titles:
Alan Wake 2
- Developed by Remedy Entertainment
- Published by Epic Games
- Released October 27, 2023
- Over 2 million copies sold to date
Silent Hill 2 Remake
- Developed by Bloober Team
- Published by Konami
- Released October 8, 2024
- Over 2 million copies sold to date

Resident Evil Village
- Developed and published by Capcom
- Released May 7, 2021
- Over 12 million copies sold to date
Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Developed and published by Capcom
- Released March 24, 2023
- Over 10 million copies sold to date

While the *Resident Evil* series is the best-selling, all of its games have been very well-received by both critics and players. Currently, their scores on OpenCritic are as follows:
Game | Top Critic Average | Payer Rating |
Alan Wake 2 | 89 | 90 |
Silent Hill 2 Remake | 87 | 90 |
Resident Evil Village | 84 | 90 |
Resident Evil 4 Remake | 92 | 90 |
It’s crazy – both *RE4 Remake* and *Silent Hill 2 Remake* are sitting at a solid 90, according to player scores, with critics pretty close to that too. Now, with the rumor that *Silent Hill 2 Remake* might be hitting PS Plus Extra, that means we could have two of the best horror games in years available on the service at the same time! And honestly, if Sony added one of the newer *Resident Evil* games to PS Plus Extra or Premium this October, that would be amazing. Talk about a perfect Halloween surprise for subscribers – it would make October a huge month for the service!
