Bleak Haven is a new horror first-person shooter coming to Steam that looks a lot like the popular game Resident Evil Village. Resident Evil Village, released in 2021, is highly regarded as one of the best horror games available, and Bleak Haven seems to be using similar elements to achieve the same success.
Since its launch, *Resident Evil Village* has been a huge commercial hit for Capcom, selling over 12 million copies. It’s also been well-received by critics, earning an average score of 84/100 on OpenCritic. The game has clearly made a big impact, and many other games are now trying to follow its lead. One such game is *Bleak Haven*, which is coming to Steam shortly.
Bleak Haven Takes Place in an Eerie Village
Bleak Haven, a new game coming to Steam on October 27th, tells the story of a young man searching for his lost brother in a creepy, isolated village. Players will face off against frightening creatures reminiscent of those in *Resident Evil Village*, and must scavenge for supplies to craft weapons and tools – skills similar to those used by the protagonist in *Resident Evil 8*. A free demo is currently available, and the game is developed by Hitori De Productions.
As a fan of action games, I’m really excited about how *Bleak Haven* is shaping up! From what I’ve seen, the combat feels a lot like *Resident Evil Village* – you really have to think about what weapon you’re using and switch things up often. The developers are saying ammo is scarce, which means you’ll be getting up close and personal a lot! They’re even including cool “finisher” moves to take down enemies in style. And if you loved the puzzles in *Resident Evil Village*, you’ll be happy to hear *Bleak Haven* has those too, woven into how you explore the world.

Keep in mind that *Bleak Haven* is made by a small team, so it’s not really a fair comparison to a big game like *Resident Evil Village*. However, pointing out similar vibes and gameplay might help people who would enjoy it find the game. This isn’t Hitori De Productions’ first horror game either – if you like their style, you can find other titles like *Dream Cage*, *Supernatural*, and *Supernormal* on Steam.
