The sudden release of Battlefield RedSec has quickly become a hit with Battlefield fans. It’s a free-to-play Battle Royale experience separate from the full Battlefield 6 game. Players can enjoy traditional Battle Royale matches, competing to be the last team standing, or try the faster-paced, competitive Gauntlet mode – offering something for everyone.
Battlefield RedSec has a lot of new features that might take some getting used to, changing up the usual Battle Royale experience. But like other games in the genre, you can still find containers with better loot inside. One of these is the Locked Safe, which you can open with the right item to get valuable rewards. Here’s a guide on how to do it.
How to Open Locked Safes in Battlefield RedSec

Locked Safes are special containers players can find throughout the buildings in key locations on the Battlefield RedSec map. They’re fairly easy to see, but you’ll need a specific tool – and play as a certain character class – to open them.
In Battlefield RedSec, a Repair Tool is needed to open locked Safes. Only players who choose the Engineer class have access to this tool, so it’s helpful to have at least one Engineer in your squad. If someone else finds a Safe first, they can alert the Engineer. To open it, the Engineer simply needs to equip and use the Repair Tool on the Safe.

Once you use the repair torch on a Safe – you’ll see your progress on the HUD – it will open, revealing the items inside. These Safes usually contain valuable loot, including rare weapons, armor plates, useful gadgets, and intel cases that give you quick XP. Finding a Safe is a relatively easy way to get good items if you’re fortunate enough to come across one.
In Battlefield RedSec, players can’t change classes during a round while still alive. Once eliminated, they’re free to switch classes and customize their equipment before redeploying back into the game.
