7 Biggest Survivors Of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Brutal Shinjuku Showdown Arc

This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown.

The Shinjuku Showdown arc in JJK was amazing from beginning to end. It featured a battle with incredibly powerful sorcerers fighting against Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. Given Sukuna’s immense power, though, no sorcerer’s survival was certain.

Readers were surprised to find that most of the powerful sorcerers who fought Sukuna lived through the battle, and a few were even pulled back from the brink of death.

Kinji Hakari

A Next Generation Sorcerer Gem

Honestly, as a huge Jujutsu Kaisen fan, I was really let down by what happened with Kinji Hakari in the Shinjuku arc. He’s such a powerful character, but he ended up stuck in a long fight with Uraume where not much actually happened. We didn’t get to see him shine in any of the big battles, which was a real shame. It was frustrating to see him just watch Uraume fall apart, and he didn’t even get a good look at Sukuna! While it wasn’t surprising he survived, it just felt like a missed opportunity for such an awesome character.

Hiromi Higuruma

Newly Awakened Talented Sorcerer

Many fans were shocked that Hiromi Higuruma lived, especially since Sukuna defeated him with the incredibly powerful World Splitting Dismantle. His survival is likely due to his exceptional magical ability, which is considered to be on par with Gojo’s.

I think Higuruma is a really talented sorcerer with a lot of potential. While he didn’t play a huge role in the fight against the King of Curses, I was still impressed by what he brought to the table.

Kusakabe

A Powerful Grade One Sorcerer

Kusakabe isn’t a particularly powerful sorcerer, but during the Shinjuku Showdown arc, he was definitively presented as the strongest Grade One sorcerer. He eventually faced Sukuna, and though he performed well, he was ultimately defeated by the King of Curses. Fortunately, Ui Ui and the medical team were able to save him despite the intense battle.

Maki Zenin

The Next Toji Fushiguro

Maki Zenin fought incredibly well against Sukuna during the battle in Shinjuku. She managed to stab him in the heart and distracted him long enough for Yuji Itadori to recover. Despite taking a beating – including two incredibly powerful attacks known as Black Flashes – she kept fighting.

Throughout this part of the story, she proved to be incredibly strong and resourceful. She ultimately survived the conflict with assistance from her fellow sorcerers.

Yuta Okkotsu

Gojo’s Very Own Apprentice

Yuta Okkotsu miraculously survived a fatal blow from Sukuna during their battle. Sukuna used the same technique – World Splitting Dismantle – that killed Gojo to defeat Yuta. Although cut into pieces, Yuta was pulled back from death by Rika. He then transferred his consciousness into Gojo’s body while his physical form recovered.

Eventually, Rika helped him return to his original body, much to the relief of fans who were glad he survived. Yuta fought exceptionally well against Sukuna, and his efforts were crucial to winning the battle.

Yuji Itadori

The Man Who Beat Sukuna

Yuji Itadori, the main character, not only survived his fight with Sukuna, but played a crucial role in the victory. He persistently pursued Sukuna even when things looked hopeless, and unlocked amazing new abilities during the battle. Ultimately, he defeated Sukuna within his own special domain. While he received significant help from others – without which he likely wouldn’t have succeeded – Yuji was fortunate enough to be the one to finally defeat Sukuna.

During the fight, Yuji showed a glimpse of his incredible power, suggesting he could one day become as strong as Sukuna. However, he wasn’t at that level yet and would have needed years of intense training to truly reach his full potential.

Megumi Fushiguro

The Man With Great Potential

After Sukuna took control of Megumi Fushiguro, his life was in serious danger. If Yuji and his friends hadn’t intervened, Megumi likely would have died. Fortunately, Yuji defeated Sukuna, saving Megumi’s life and body. Fans were relieved to see Megumi return after the battle, and he now appears to be more powerful than ever.
