Watching One Piece over the years, Eiichiro Oda has created so many strong characters. But as the story heads toward its ending, it’s become pretty clear that Imu is the strongest of them all. While we suspected Imu was incredibly powerful during this final arc, the events at God Valley really showed just how powerful they are.

Although no one else currently matches Imu’s power, there are figures who come close. This includes legendary characters from the Void Century, such as Joy Boy, and powerful, modern pirates like Shanks.

Whitebeard

The World’s Strongest Man

Whitebeard had a history as a member of the Rocks Pirates before rising to become one of the Four Emperors, known as a Yonko, with his own crew. He wasn’t just any Emperor, though – Whitebeard was significantly more powerful than most, largely thanks to his Devil Fruit, the Gura Gura no Mi.

Whitebeard’s Devil Fruit is considered the strongest of its type, and his destructive capability surpasses even that of Imu. While not as powerful overall as Imu, Whitebeard was capable of causing global devastation and could definitely put up a fight.

Harald

The Late King of Elbaf

Harald used to be the king of Elbaf, but he died fourteen years ago. While the details of his death are largely unknown, most evidence suggests Imu was responsible.

Harald was incredibly powerful, often depicted as being on the same level as Rocks. He was famous as the strongest king in the history of Elbaf, making him one of the most formidable figures in the One Piece world. It’s likely Imu eliminated him because he posed a significant threat.

Rocks D. Xebec

Rocks D. Xebec, first introduced in the Wano arc, is considered one of the most powerful figures in the world of One Piece. He captained a crew filled with incredibly strong pirates – many who were already at the level of Emperors (Yonko), or had the potential to become one. This highlights just how formidable he was.

It came to light that Xebec descended from a powerful line, directly related to Davy D. Jones, the former World King. While alive, Rocks posed the greatest danger to Imu, and it appears Davy’s bloodline holds a hidden and significant power.

Garp

The Hero of the Marines

Throughout Marine history, Garp stands out as a true legend. After the battle at God Valley, he earned the title ‘Hero of the Marines’ and is widely considered their greatest warrior.

As a huge One Piece fan, it’s amazing to me that even though Garp isn’t at his peak anymore, he’s still a total powerhouse! Seriously, the fact that he nearly took down an entire Yonko crew all by himself, even as an older man, is incredible. Everyone knows Garp in his prime was right up there with the Pirate King himself! I mean, he and Roger fought as equals at God Valley against the Rocks Pirates – that’s how you know he was a legend. He wasn’t quite as strong as Imu, but he was definitely one of the very few who could even approach that level of power.

Gol D. Roger

The Pirate King

Gol D. Roger repeatedly challenged the authority of the World Government. He was the first person to successfully navigate the treacherous Grand Line and claim the title of Pirate King, discovering the legendary treasure known as the One Piece. More importantly, he uncovered the hidden history of the world that the mysterious Imu desperately tried to keep secret. Clearly, Roger possessed incredible strength to accomplish all of this.

Roger was an incredibly powerful pirate in the world of One Piece. If he had lived a little later and gained the necessary strength, he might have been able to defeat Imu, the King of the World.

Shanks

The Child of Destiny

Shanks is one of the four most powerful pirates in the world, known as the Yonko, and his strength is exceptional even among them. It’s become clear that Shanks is significantly more powerful than the other Yonko. He defeated a pirate with a bounty of 3 billion berries in a single blow – a feat neither Kaido nor Big Mom have accomplished.

Honestly, the thing that really blew my mind is seeing Shanks compared to Joy Boy! In Egghead, when Dorry and Brogy saw Joy Boy’s Haki, they genuinely questioned whether Shanks or Joy Boy had the stronger will! It feels like Oda is hinting that Shanks’ Haki is so powerful it could even scare Imu! We haven’t even seen the full extent of Shanks’ power yet, but trust me, he’s an absolute beast in this current generation.

Davy D. Jones

The Previous King of the World

Imu is a major enigma in One Piece, and we still don’t know much about their past, including how they became the World Government’s leader. However, the author, Oda, has revealed some new information. Imu didn’t always hold that position; the title actually belonged to Davy D. Jones, an ancestor of both Xebec and Blackbeard, as Rocks himself stated.

Jones, the former King of the World, was incredibly strong. Even 800 years after his reign, Imu continues to pursue his family line, fearing the potential power they might inherit.

Joy Boy

The Second Nika

When considering who might be stronger than Imu in One Piece, Joy Boy, the legendary figure from the Void Century also known as Nika, stands out. He’s the only character shown so far who’s actually been able to harm and frighten Imu. Eight hundred years ago, Joy Boy’s powerful Haki caused Imu to scream in pain, proving just how strong he was. However, despite his strength, Joy Boy ultimately lost to Imu and died under mysterious circumstances.
