How to Get Psycho Cut in Pokemon Legends Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the move Psycho Cut is essential to complete the side quest “Becoming a Peerless Furfrou Trimmer.” During this quest, players must find a Pokémon capable of using Psycho Cut to cut a Substitute doll for a character named Mirte.

This guide will show you every Pokémon that can learn the move Psycho Cut. It includes details on where to find and catch these Pokémon in Lumiose City, and how to teach them the move.

How to Get a Pokemon With Psycho Cut in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the only way for a Pokemon to learn the move Psycho Cut is by leveling up. The game doesn’t offer a Technical Machine (TM) for Psycho Cut, so only certain Pokemon that learn it as they gain experience will be able to use the move.

Fortunately, many Pokémon can learn this move, and some are readily available early in the game.

As a longtime Pokémon fan, I was surprised to find out that even though Pokémon used to learn Psycho Cut by leveling up in older games, you actually can’t teach it to them naturally in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It’s a bit disappointing, honestly!

After you get a Pokémon that knows Psycho Cut, go to the Boxes or Party menu and select “Change Moves.” If the Pokémon is at the right level, you’ll find Psycho Cut listed as an available move to teach it.

The simplest Psycho Cut Pokémon to obtain is either Kadabra, because its earlier form, Abra, appears quite early in Wild Zone 5, or Honedge, which can be found in Wild Zone 4 at night. Any of the other Pokémon with this move will work just as well, of course.
