In The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll find lots of containers like chests and lockers to search for useful items. These can give you crafting materials, currency (Bits), and powerful weapons or gear to help you on your journey. Early in the game, you’ll likely encounter Kaur’s War Chest, which is located in a shack near Fairfield. However, you’ll need a keycard to open it. This guide will show you how to find Kaur’s War Chest and open it, so you can claim the rewards inside.

Where to Find Kaur’s War Chest in The Outer Worlds 2

Okay, so after the first mission, you’ll land on Paradise Island. The main town there is Fairfield, and it’s pretty close to where your ship, the Incognito, touches down. If you head just west of Fairfield, you’ll find a little shack – that’s where Kaur’s War Chest is hidden. I’ve even included a screenshot showing exactly where it is, so you can’t miss it!

How to Open Kaur’s War Chest in Outer Worlds 2

Once inside, look for a large chest to your right. You can open it with Kaur’s War Chest Keycard, or if you have a Lockpick skill of 5 and one Mag-Pick, you can open it without the keycard.

As a player, I’ve found that leveling up is pretty smooth – you get two skill points each time, which helps a lot. Plus, Mag-Picks aren’t too hard to come by; you can buy them from shops or find them while exploring. Because of that, it doesn’t take long at all to get enough of them to get in, even without needing that keycard!

If you’re aiming to get the keycard, you’ll first need the Pickpocket perk. To unlock this perk, your Lockpick skill must be at level 1. After that, return to the large building where you first met both her and Milverstreet – the one where you had to choose a side. Go into her office, which is just off the main room, and sneak up behind her. When you’re close enough, you’ll be able to pickpocket the Kaur’s War Chest Keycard from her.

The war chest contains several items, like Bits, a Designator Triple Barrel Shotgun, and Kaur’s Korroder. If you have the ‘Treasure Hunter’ perk, you have a chance to find even more Bits and materials for crafting.

If you’ve completed the ‘Above and Beyond Repair’ quest and helped Kaur, you won’t find Kaur’s Korroder in the chest – you’ll get it as a reward for finishing the quest.
