My Hero Academia’s Izuku Midoriya Has Officially Been Beaten By Another Character

This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia.

My Hero Academia is now a hugely popular anime and manga enjoyed by fans all over the world. It’s become one of the largest and most successful anime franchises globally.

Even though the My Hero Academia manga finished last year, the anime is still releasing the final episodes of its last season, meaning the series will officially conclude shortly. To celebrate the end, a worldwide popularity poll was held, allowing fans to vote for their favorite characters. The results showed that Bakugo is overwhelmingly the most popular character in My Hero Academia. He’s officially surpassed Deku in almost every poll, with the exception of the very first one when the series was new to many viewers. Bakugo has really become the defining face of the series.

Bakugo Has Beaten Izuku Midoriya In The MHA Popularity Poll

  • Bakugo Won First Place in the International Popularity Poll
  • Izuku Midoriya Finished Second

Izuku Midoriya, known as Deku, is the main character in My Hero Academia. While he’s central to the story and determined to become a great hero, he isn’t the most popular character in the series. A recent global popularity poll, held to celebrate the manga’s conclusion, revealed that Katsuki Bakugo, Deku’s rival, actually took the top spot as the most popular character in My Hero Academia.

The difference in votes between Bakugo and Deku was significant. Bakugo received 1,647,611 votes worldwide, while Deku earned 1,217,357 – a difference of over 400,000 votes. Despite this, Izuku Midoriya (Deku) still came in second place overall, which is remarkable. For comparison, the third most popular character, Shoto Todoroki, received about half as many votes as Deku, with 630,398. Both Izuku and Bakugo are clearly the most popular characters in the series by a large margin.

Bakugo Has Won All Polls Except The First One

Bakugo Has Proven to Be The Most Popular Character

Although some viewers were surprised that Bakugo surpassed Deku as the most popular character in My Hero Academia, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Deku has never consistently ranked first in popularity polls, and Bakugo has usually been the winner. Deku only won the very first poll, likely because fans were still getting to know the characters and Bakugo’s personality hadn’t fully developed yet. It seems Bakugo is truly the most popular character in My Hero Academia.

The My Hero Academia manga finished its run with a total of 431 chapters, all available on Manga Plus. The anime adaptation is still ongoing and will conclude with its final season later this year, and you can watch it on Crunchyroll.
