My Hero Academia’s Final Season Just Surpassed One of the Biggest Anime of 2025

Wow, fall 2025 has been packed with great anime, but nothing has excited me more than the final season of My Hero Academia! Everyone’s been waiting for season eight, and honestly, Bones has absolutely nailed it week after week. The hype was real, and they’ve completely lived up to it!

2025 has already brought us a lot of excellent anime, and several shows are in the running for anime of the year. Titles like Solo Leveling, Lord of Mysteries, and Takopi’s Original Sin are all strong possibilities, but according to IMDb, My Hero Academia currently has the highest rating of any anime released this year.

My Hero Academia’s Final Season is Beating out Takopi’s Original Sin

So far, every episode of My Hero Academia‘s final season has received an IMDb rating of 9 or higher, giving the season an average of 9.5 after seven episodes, including “From Aizawa.” This makes My Hero Academia the highest-rated series of the year, surpassing Takopi’s Original Sin, which had an average rating of 9.4 over its six episodes. Given the series’ popularity, this success isn’t surprising. However, with a few episodes still to come, My Hero‘s lead could shrink if the remaining episodes don’t maintain the same high scores.

Despite the unexpectedly brief eighth season, most fans don’t believe the My Hero Academia anime is over. With Jump Festa coming up soon, many are hoping for a new announcement about the series before the year ends. While there isn’t much manga left to adapt for another full season—unless the creators add original content—a movie is a possibility. If a movie is made, this eighth season could be remembered as one of the best final seasons in anime history.

Despite being a shorter series, Takopi’s Original Sin was a surprising hit during the summer 2025 anime season. Adapted from the manga, it quickly gained a global fanbase thanks to its compelling story and characters. Airing after Solo Leveling season 2 and alongside Lord of Mysteries, Takopi’s Original Sin consistently ranked as the top-rated anime for several months until My Hero became popular.

  • My Hero Academia: Final Season — 9.5
  • Takopi’s Original Sin — 9.4
  • Lord of Mysteries — 9.1
  • Solo Leveling Season 2 — 9.0

This list probably includes many of the top contenders for anime of the year. It’s still uncertain whether My Hero or Takopi will ultimately be ranked as the best series of the year, but both have clearly stood out as exceptional shows.
