Popular streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel recently criticized the professional League of Legends scene during a broadcast. While he enjoys playing the game itself, he described watching professional League of Legends as ‘unwatchable.’ He strongly prefers Counter-Strike 2, believing it’s significantly more entertaining to watch – estimating it’s 10 to 20 times better.
xQc used to compete in esports, but he doesn’t anymore. Do you agree with his opinion on competitive League of Legends?
‘That Will Probably Never Change’
During a recent livestream, xQc told his audience that he thinks League of Legends is a terrible esports title.
League of Legends was named Game of the Year at the Esports Awards, triumphing over popular titles like Counter-Strike 2 and VALORANT. It’s been an incredible year for the game, especially with the League of Legends World Championship – held in China this season – breaking viewership records.
That’s not enough for xQc, though.
In a slight rant, xQc said on stream:
As a fan, I truly believe CS2 is built to last. What I love is how easily you can follow what’s happening – the game just tells a story, and the way it’s shown from a spectator’s point of view is incredible. It’s so accessible; even if you’ve never played, you instantly understand what’s going on. That’s a big part of why it continues to be so popular. It makes me wonder about other games like League of Legends, though…
It’s really hard to watch, honestly. While it’s fun to play, it doesn’t make for a very good esports competition. I enjoy League of Legends, but when it comes to being a spectator sport, Counter-Strike is far superior – it’s easily 10 to 20 times better.

Man, it feels like forever since Counter-Strike got any real love at the Esports Awards. I remember when it won Game of the Year back in 2017, but since then, it’s been all about games like League of Legends, Overwatch, and VALORANT taking home the trophies.
