While Luffy is the main focus of One Piece, Zoro is just as crucial to the crew’s success and is incredibly powerful. He was the first member to join Luffy on his journey to become Pirate King and has been vital in almost every major story arc, consistently helping the Straw Hat Pirates move forward.
Zoro is one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat crew, alongside Luffy and Sanji, and he’s consistently proven his amazing abilities. Here are a few examples of just how powerful he can be.
Literally Punching Through a Wave With Luffy
An Incredible Feat of Teamwork and Sheer Will
The main characters in One Piece have accomplished some truly unbelievable things. Looking back, it’s amazing to realize that Luffy and Zoro once punched through a huge tidal wave – and that’s not even their most impressive feat!
Even with Luffy’s amazing Devil Fruit powers, Zoro achieves this feat through pure determination and physical strength. This isn’t the only time he’s amazed fans, and it’s enjoyable to remember, knowing how much more impressive he would become later on.
Zoro Challenges Mihawk
Zoro Proves His Toughness & Resolves, Despite the Loss
I remember watching this scene and being completely blown away. It felt like a huge turning point for Zoro. He’s always striving to be the world’s greatest swordsman, and Mihawk currently holds that title. But in a really unexpected move, Zoro just challenges Mihawk to a fight – a fight almost everyone thought he’d lose. It was a bold and unforgettable moment.
The fight went about as expected, with the renowned swordsman easily overcoming Zoro. Most others wouldn’t have lasted a moment against him, but Zoro’s determination and resilience allowed him to endure. Mihawk, impressed, decided to let Zoro live and see how far he could go.
Taking Down Mr. 1
We See Zoro Overcome A Challenging Opponent
I still think about the Baroque Works crew from the Arabasta arc – they really pushed the Straw Hats! It was awesome seeing how much stronger the crew had become, and it also gave us fans a good sense of just how dangerous the world of One Piece really is. Honestly, Zoro’s fight against Daz Bonez, Mr. 1, was a total highlight of the whole arc for me!
Thanks to his Devil Fruit ability, which transformed his body into blades, he presented a significant challenge to Zoro. Though the battle was difficult and he nearly lost, Zoro ultimately broke through his opponent’s strong defenses and won.
Using Ashura to Defeat Kaku
Zoro’s Growth As a Swordsman on Full Display
Luffy consistently battles the most powerful opponent when the Straw Hat crew faces enemies. However, Zoro usually handles the second-strongest fighter. For example, during the battle against CP9, Zoro was assigned to fight Kaku.
Kaku’s Devil Fruit ability gives him a significant advantage against Zoro, and he manages to gain the upper hand at several points during their fight. However, Zoro overcomes these challenges by exceeding his own limits, ultimately mastering his Nine Sword Style and defeating Kaku with a devastating Ashura: Ichibugin attack.
Blocking Kaido & Big Mom’s Combined Attack
Not Many People Could Have Pulled This Off And Lived
Kaido and Big Mom are incredibly powerful pirates, widely feared by both other pirates and the Marines. Together, they’re a devastating force capable of defeating almost anyone – but Zoro seems completely unfazed by that fact.
A fierce battle is underway between Kaido, Big Mom, and members of the Worst Generation – Law, Killer, Zoro, Luffy, and Kidd – when a devastating attack from the former Rocks Pirates is unleashed. Zoro bravely steps forward to absorb most of the impact, giving his allies time to escape. Despite suffering numerous broken bones, Zoro’s ability to withstand such a powerful blow demonstrates his incredible strength and places him far above most fighters.
Taking on All of Luffy’s Pain
Zoro Shows Us All That He’s Luffy’s Greatest Ally
Fans adore Zoro because of his unwavering loyalty to Luffy. While he’s a powerful fighter and valuable crewmate, what truly stands out is his deep faith in Luffy’s dream and his dedication to helping Luffy achieve it, no matter the cost.
After the intense battle on Thriller Bark, Kuma appears, and Luffy is in terrible shape. Luckily, Zoro intervenes and makes a deal with Kuma: he’ll take on all of Luffy’s pain using Kuma’s Devil Fruit power. Despite already being injured, Zoro willingly accepts even more suffering, and his casual reaction has become a legendary moment for fans of the series.
Zoro Cuts Through King
Zoro Pushes Through His Limits And Takes Down A Lunarian
King proved to be Zoro’s hardest fight yet, and their battle is easily one of the most exciting we’ve witnessed in a while. It’s even more remarkable considering Zoro fought King immediately after defending against a devastating combined attack from Big Mom and Kaido, highlighting his incredible strength and endurance.
Man, watching King fight is just incredible – he’s one of the last Lunarians, so you know he’s powerful! Zoro was throwing everything he had at him, but it barely seemed to faze King. It wasn’t until Zoro accidentally coated his swords with Conqueror’s Haki – he didn’t even realize it at the time! – that he started to really hurt him. The fight went down to the wire, and Zoro finally finished King off with his insane King of Hell Three-Sword Style: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation! He shattered King’s sword, ripped off his wing, and finally took him down. What a battle!
