New Stranger Things Episode Ignites Controversial Backlash Over Series Finale

It’s been a while since the last episode of Stranger Things aired. Season 5 finished with eight very long episodes, but many fans are finding it difficult to accept that the show is over.

Fans are still talking about Stranger Things and a theory called “Conformity Gate,” which suggested that the final episode wasn’t the true ending and Netflix was secretly holding back a complete Season 5, Episode 9. Now that this theory has been disproven, fans have a new, and negative, topic of discussion surrounding the finale.

Stranger Things Documentary Sparks Controversy Around The Finale Episode

The Absence of Demogorgons In Season 5, Episode 8 Didn’t Land Well With Fans

The final episode of Stranger Things showed a huge showdown between Vecna and the heroes of Hawkins. But Vecna wasn’t the only threat – the powerful Mind Flayer also returned in its true form. To overcome this dangerous duo, the group had to venture into Dimension X.

At first, the show made it seem like the Mind Flayer lived in the Upside Down, but that wasn’t right. The Mind Flayer – and Vecna – actually operated from a place called Dimension X. While Dimension X looked impressive in the finale, fans have noticed something odd: there were no Demogorgons or bats to be seen. Demogorgons have been important to the story of Stranger Things since the very beginning, and as part of the Mind Flayer’s network, they should have been in Dimension X. That’s why many viewers were disappointed not to see them during the final showdown.

In an interview with TheWrap, the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, explained the lack of Demogorgons. They said the Mind Flayer wasn’t prepared for an attack on its territory. However, fans weren’t convinced by this explanation, and their disappointment increased after the recent Stranger Things documentary was released.

The documentary reveals that the show’s writers initially planned to include Demogorgons and bats in the final battle. However, the Duffer Brothers worried viewers were tired of seeing these monsters – they called it “Demo Fatigue” – after so many fights in the later seasons. That’s why no monsters appeared in the Abyss. While the creators had their reasons, many fans felt the decision unfairly prevented the show from having a truly epic conclusion, and believe it cost the finale its potential to be iconic.

Stranger Things’ Ending Would Have Been More Impactful With Demogorgons

The Ending Was Good, But The Monsters Would Have Made It Better

Let’s face it, the monsters – Demogorgons, bats, and Demodogs – have always been central to Stranger Things. Nearly every major character death has been caused by them. The bats killed Eddie, and Demodogs killed Bob. They’re some of the most recognizable monsters in TV history, and they were key to the Mind Flayer’s power. So, it felt strange that they weren’t included in the final showdown. It was also clear that Vecna was always aware of what the Hawkins group was doing and what Eleven and her friends could do.

They were on the verge of success, so it’s strange that no Demogorgons were around to protect them during the final battle. Considering how close everyone came to dying, it’s clear the Demogorgons’ absence significantly impacted the outcome. Removing them made the victory too easy for the heroes, and the show’s creators would have needed to drastically change the ending to justify their inclusion.

It’s important to remember these creatures were connected to a central intelligence. Even if they weren’t directly protecting the Mind Flayer or Vecna, they likely weren’t far off. This means they could have easily intervened during the fight to help the Mind Flayer. While viewers might have imagined different endings, Stranger Things has concluded. The creators could have taken the finale in many directions, but that doesn’t necessarily make the ending poor. Ultimately, it was a satisfying, though not flawless, conclusion to a story we’ve all enjoyed for years.
