Xbox Updates Safer Gaming Commitment With Nintendo And Sony

As a gamer, I was really glad to see Xbox announce an update to their safety plan! They’ve been working with Nintendo and PlayStation (Sony Interactive Entertainment) on this, which is awesome – it’s great to see everyone working together to make gaming a safer place for all of us.

Xbox first revealed this partnership back in 2020, explaining that they believe collaboration – even with competitors – leads to better results. Gaming is a fantastic way for people to connect, but it’s also important to address safety issues within the gaming community.

Highlights Of The Commitment To Safer Gaming

Kim Kunes, Vice President of Gaming Trust and Safety, recently shared an update detailing new guidelines agreed upon by three organizations. You can find the full details on the official Xbox Wire website, but here are a few key takeaways:

We work with others in the gaming industry, including publishers, regulators, and law enforcement, as well as community groups, to improve player safety.

We work with a variety of groups around the world – including industry associations, companies, government agencies, law enforcement, non-profits, and experts – to create and improve online safety programs. This includes our collaborations with organizations like the Thriving in Games Group and the Family Online Safety Institute, among others.

We use advanced technology and work closely with others to prevent harmful behavior and content. We’re actively involved in important industry groups like the Tech Coalition and its Lantern program, which focus on keeping children safe online by sharing knowledge and being open about our methods.

Roblox is facing scrutiny regarding the safety of children who use the platform, and the state of Louisiana has actually filed a lawsuit over these issues.

Xbox is collaborating with Nintendo and Sony to improve player safety online. Beyond that, more games originally made for Xbox are now being released on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles, as Xbox emphasizes that its gaming experiences are available everywhere.
