How to Beat Doormaker in Slay The Spire 2

You’ve battled your way through three tough acts in Slay the Spire 2, but a challenging final boss still awaits you at the top.

Slay The Spire 2 features challenging enemies designed to push your skills to the absolute limit, and The Doormaker is a prime example of this.

This corrupted image could seriously harm your system and potentially lock you out, like it has before. However, if you have the right software, you might be able to fix it.

Let’s take a look at some of these tricky boss mechanics and how to cut this guy down to size.

Encounter Mechanics

When the boss fight begins, it seems surprisingly simple. A ring of rocks with only 155 health? It doesn’t look like much of a challenge.

Wish it were that simple! Once you break the rocks, the real challenge begins with the Doormaker boss. He’s much tougher, with 489 health, bringing the total health you’ll need to overcome to over 600. However, with a good deck of cards, it’s manageable.

The Doormaker is a tough opponent because you only have 3 turns to defeat him before he disappears. Although his health is only 489, winning in just 3 turns can be really difficult, particularly if your strategy relies on building up momentum over time.

Dealing a lot of damage quickly is useful during those three turns, but don’t forget to protect yourself. He’ll hit you hard with a 40 damage attack right before he’s defeated, and that can be tough to defend against.

When the Doormaker vanishes, a new stone door will take its place. This new door will have 175 health, which is 20 more than the door it replaced.

Each time the Doormaker gets away, you’ll face a tougher door that you’ll need to destroy. Without strong, quick damage, this battle can drag on, quickly using up your abilities and slowly wearing you down.

Fortunately, when the Doormaker runs away, any negative effects you’ve applied, like Poison or Doom, will remain – you won’t have to reapply them. However, the door he creates is a fresh start.

Boss Strategies

Burst Decks

Look, nobody wants to be stuck in a long fight with the Doormaker. He hits hard, and every hit really hurts. Honestly, you want to finish him off as quickly as possible – seeing him more than twice is a recipe for disaster. Unless you’ve got one of those super-rare, incredibly powerful decks built around stacking tons of Barricades for defense, which is tough to pull off consistently, you’re gonna have a bad time if the fight drags on.

It’s better to concentrate on decks that can quickly inflict a lot of damage to a single enemy.

Strategies that rely on applying Vulnerable and dealing high damage are very effective in this situation. This applies to various character builds, like a Strength-based Ironclad, a high-energy Defect that uses Uproar, or even a Necrobinder focused on Scythe. Using cards that inflict Vulnerable and Weak will give you the breathing room you need to both deal damage and survive.

Defensive Focus

If you’re playing a slower, more defensive deck, it’s often a good idea to leave the first door standing for a while longer than usual. Decks like Frost-Defect, Sly-Silent, or Ethereal-Necrobinders need time to get their powers and cards working together, so it’s best to deal with the Doormaker later, once you’re fully prepared.

In battles like this, cards that cost very little energy to play, while also providing extra energy or letting you draw more cards, are incredibly valuable.

To make the most of each turn, try to play as many cards as you can and draw more into your hand. Keep an eye out for these cards, no matter what deck you’re using.

  • Offering – Ironclad
  • Brand – Ironclad
  • Adrenaline – Silent
  • Big Bang – Regent
  • Neurosurge – Necrobinder
  • Modded – Defect
  • Supercritical – Defect

Unlike some other fights, The Doormaker doesn’t have a lot of tricky rules to learn. This battle mainly tests how much damage your team can put out quickly – it’s all about dealing enough damage before time runs out.
