Okay, so I just saw a new teaser for ARC Raiders, and it looks like things are about to get way harder. Apparently, the Shredder – seriously the most dangerous enemy in the game – is breaking free from Stella Montis. Embark Studios is planning a big update to wrap up March, and it’s the third of four major patches they’ve promised for the game this year. It’s good to see they’re keeping the content coming!
Following a successful launch last year, Embark Studios started 2024 with plans for future updates to ARC Raiders. They’ve scheduled four updates between January and April, and likely have more planned after that. The first, called “Headwinds,” arrived in January, introducing a new 1v3 matchmaking mode, a unique Map Condition for the Buried City, and a new Player Project. In February, they released “Shrouded Sky,” a significant update that added two new enemy types, a new location within Dam Battlegrounds, and another major Map Condition, among other content.
ARC Raiders Teases Shredder Breaking Out of Stella Montis
Embark announced that a new update for ARC Raiders will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 31st. A recent teaser video suggests the challenging enemy known as the Shredder will soon appear on a new map – Blue Gate. The video and a caption referencing Stella Montis strongly indicate the Shredder will be added in next week’s update.
If you’ve been following the development of ARC Raiders, you probably already knew this was coming. Earlier this year, Embark Studios announced plans to expand the game’s PvE content by introducing the Shredder enemy to more levels. Now, they’ve confirmed the Shredder will arrive on the Blue Gate map with the next Flashpoint update. However, it’s still unclear if Embark plans to add the Shredder to even more maps beyond this.
Even though the Shredder enemy was added to ARC Raiders after launch, along with the Stella Montis map, it’s currently the most dangerous enemy players will face. Embark Studios recently shared a list of the five deadliest ARC enemies in ARC Raiders. The Firefly, a newer addition to the game, ranked third, while the Rocketeer came in second. The Shredder topped the list as the deadliest. While Embark didn’t share exact numbers, players who have ventured to Stella Montis can quickly see how dangerous these enemies are.
Players aren’t thrilled about the upcoming move of the Shredder enemy from Stella Montis to Blue Gate in ARC Raiders next week, and it seems to be changing how they play. Many are asking Embark to focus on creating fresh content rather than simply moving existing enemies to different areas. This has led some to believe the “new ARC threat” promised for March’s update might not be entirely new. Streamer Cloakzy expressed disappointment, saying they don’t want the Shredder being presented as new content, and others echoed this sentiment, hoping the March update will introduce a truly unique challenge.
