Wallets identified by Arkham as belonging to Multicoin have staked $82 million in HyperCore (HYPE), increasing their significant investment in Hyperliquid, a new blockchain platform for decentralized finance.
Summary
- On-chain intelligence platform Arkham reports that wallets its AI associates with Multicoin Capital have staked a combined $82.02 million worth of HYPE on HyperCore.
- One such address moved $28.45 million in HYPE to HyperCore for staking, while two other wallets executed similar transactions, bringing total staked HYPE from the trio to roughly 1.96 million tokens.
- The wallets still hold about 2.83 million HYPE in total, valued near $118 million, underscoring sustained, concentrated exposure to the Hyperliquid ecosystem’s native asset.
Arkham flags Multicoin-associated HYPE staking activity
Data from Arkham’s AI shows that an address likely linked to Multicoin Capital recently moved around $28.45 million worth of HYPE tokens to HyperCore, where they were locked for staking. This signals increased activity and investment within the Hyperliquid platform.
Around the same time, two more wallets made the same move, and these three wallets collectively staked 1.96 million HYPE tokens. According to Coinness and Phemex, this amount was worth approximately $82.02 million at the current exchange rate.
Recent data shows that even after transferring some tokens, this group of wallets still holds approximately 2.83 million HYPE, valued at around $118 million. This indicates they’re changing *how* they’re using these tokens, not selling them off.
Our previous analysis showed a connection between one of these wallets and trading patterns similar to those used by Multicoin Capital. In late January 2025, the wallet sent 87,100 ETH (around $220 million at the time) to Galaxy Digital for over-the-counter trading, and then exchanged approximately $46 million worth of ETH for 1.35 million HYPE tokens.
Later reports from PANews and others showed the same address believed to be linked to Multicoin held $26.9 million worth of HYPE, with potential profits of around $10.5 million. This address received $39.4 million from Galaxy and then sent $22.99 million to Coinbase, suggesting a series of large trades in HYPE that were likely influenced by market liquidity.
HyperCore staking deepens long-term HYPE bet
HyperCore is the system that lets you earn rewards on Hyperliquid’s network by staking your HYPE tokens. When you stake, you’re essentially delegating your tokens to validators, and in return, you receive rewards and get a say in how the network is run.
These wallets, believed to be connected to Multicoin Capital, have moved almost $82 million into HYPE staking. This turns their previously speculative investments into assets that earn rewards and also helps support the long-term security and decision-making of the HYPE network.
Around mid-April, monitoring systems detected two large cryptocurrency accounts moving 1.366 million HYPE (approximately $62 million worth) from the HyperEVM network to HyperCore and then staking it with a particular validator. This shows that large investors are using staking to secure their holdings while also moving their assets between different networks and platforms.
A recent report from crypto.news highlighted a large $46 million purchase of HYPE using ETH as a major vote of confidence in the DeFi token at the beginning of 2025. Today’s additional $82 million investment shows that belief remains strong.
A recent crypto.news report pointed out that when a small number of large wallets control a significant amount of staked crypto, it can heavily influence how validators operate and how the network is governed. This is especially true if those wallets are connected – even potentially – to a well-known investment firm.
Another report from crypto.news highlighted that Arkham’s labels aren’t certain, explaining that while data strongly indicates Multicoin’s involvement, it can’t be confirmed with absolute certainty by tracking transactions on the blockchain. Despite this uncertainty, the market is still interpreting these large transactions as a significant sign of institutional investment.
