Mina The Hollower Announces ‘True’ Final Release Date

Yacht Club Games announced on social media that their much-awaited indie game, Mina the Hollower, will be released in the final week of May. If all goes according to plan, this launch will happen almost four years after the game was originally announced.

Mina the Hollower is an action game that takes inspiration from classic Zelda titles like the Oracle games and Link’s Awakening. It combines a top-down perspective with challenging, Souls-like gameplay, creating a tough but rewarding experience. Developed by Yacht Club Games as a tribute to the Game Boy era, Mina the Hollower stands out with its 8-bit graphics and spooky Victorian Gothic atmosphere, making it a unique indie game.

Mina the Hollower Is Almost Here

Good news for fans of Mina the Hollower! Yacht Club Games has announced that the game will launch on Friday, May 29th, on all current gaming platforms. It will cost $19.99 at launch. The developers shared the news in a short trailer, confirming this is the definite release date for the Game Boy-inspired adventure. You can now add the game to your wishlist on Steam, GOG, and the Nintendo eShop. While a physical version is planned, Yacht Club Games decided to release the game digitally first to get it into players’ hands quicker.

Even though Mina the Hollower has a retro 8-bit look, it will work with today’s game controls and widescreen monitors. It’s coming to Windows, macOS, and Linux computers, as well as Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. There are separate listings for the Switch and Switch 2 versions in the Nintendo eShop, so it’s currently unknown if players will be able to upgrade. The game is developed by Yacht Club Games, the team behind the popular indie hit Shovel Knight, so expectations are very high. Since it was revealed in 2022, the game successfully funded on Kickstarter with the help of 21,439 backers, raising over $1.2 million.

Yacht Club Games announced the release date for Mina the Hollower almost two weeks after sharing a development update with fans. They had previously said the game would be released in the spring, and confirmed on April 24th that development was complete. While the main work on the game is finished, Yacht Club Games might use the time before release to fix any remaining bugs or problems.
