After finding the Temple of the Waves and the Temple of the Gales, the search is on for the remaining two of the four ancient Human temples linked to the elements. The next goal is to locate the temple dedicated to fire, but Hassian’s Plumehound, Tau, has gone missing. You’ll need to solve puzzles around the temple to find him as part of the ‘A Catalyzing Caper’ quest in Palia.

How to Complete the ‘A Catalyzing Caper Quest‘ in Palia

After finishing the Plumehound Pilgrimage, you can start ‘A Catalyzing Caper.’ In this quest, the villagers have asked you to help them find Flowstones. These stones are needed to fix a Flow Battery, which will then unlock the next temple for exploration.

You’ll find the Temple of the Flames inside the Flooded Fortress, located in the far western area. It’s past the entrance to Pavel Mines on your right. The temple entrance is at the end of the walkway, and you can open the doors with a repaired Flow Battery. Once inside, you’ll meet Sifuu, Hassian, and Tau.

As you explore the Temple of the Flames, keep an eye out for Ancient Tomes and Treasure Chests. The Ancient Tomes tell the story of humanity before it vanished.

How to Solve the Brazier Puzzle to Unlock the Temple of the Flames

Inside the temple, Hassian and Sifuu are waiting to tell you that Tau has ventured off on his own. They’ll also explain you need to unlock something. To do so, pay attention to a clue on a set of doors. This clue will help you identify three crossbeams, each with a symbol. The order of these symbols is the key to solving a puzzle involving a brazier.

  • Aim before firing an arrow at the first brazier to your right.
  • Switch to the left side and fire at the middle brazier.
  • Return to the right side again and target the last brazier to complete the puzzle.

How to Solve the First Mysterious Chamber Maze Puzzles

Head down the stairs into the main hall. Feel free to look around and talk to Sifuu before getting your next instructions from Hassian. He’ll tell you about two doors to check out – one is locked, so he suggests you start with the other one, which is right near him.

Go to the first Mysterious Chamber near Hassian. Inside, you’ll find a mural, a fire cauldron, and a Phoenix Statue right next to Hassian. Reading the inscription on the statue will give you a hint for the puzzle. Before you tackle the mural puzzle, talk to Sifuu until she’s finished all her dialogue – she’ll give you a torch. You’ll need this torch to light the braziers you find throughout the temple.

Players can start the torch puzzle by touching the fire cauldron. This will then light the brazier near the mural, opening the first maze room hidden behind the wall. To navigate this first maze, follow the directions below.

  • Start on the right side before entering the maze and make a quick left turn.
  • Next is to turn right before making another right, then follow this path to reach the end.
  • Make a left turn and reach the end of the path, and then take the second right turn to find a fire cauldron to light the torch.
  • Back step away from the cauldron and take the first right to continue. Turn right once again, then left to complete the maze.

Great job finishing the first maze! Players will notice a ladder with metal rungs on the left side. Once across the platform, jump to the next one. Then, climb another metal-rung ladder, turn around, and climb one more to discover a painted mural and a brazier you can light.

Once the brazier is lit, a new maze room will open up behind the wall painting. From there, players can head to the left entrance of the second maze. Here’s how to navigate the maze and continue the quest:

  • Head straight up the path before making a right turn, followed by another right turn, and then turn left.
  • Take the first left turn and continue on this path before making another left turn.
  • A quick left turn will soon follow, where Palians should be able to see another fire cauldron ahead to light their torch.
  • Back step away from the cauldron once again to reach the main hallway, where, at the dead end, turn right.
  • Make a quick right turn, find a grated wall to the left, and climb over it before going left down the hallway.

Players will discover a climbable ladder at the end of the hallway, starting a new sequence of climbing and platforming challenges within the maze room. Reaching the top will lead to another mural puzzle, and solving it by lighting a brazier will unlock the final room.

The last room of the maze should be easy for Palians to complete, even with lava covering the floor. They can use their glider to jump between platforms, reach the exit, and then climb a series of ladders to find the final fire cauldron.

One last time, interact with the cauldron to light the torch. Then, continue climbing and turn left to reach the final platform. Inside the room, light the last brazier and examine the mural. Finally, glide back to the entrance of the chamber to exit.

How to Solve the Brazier Puzzle to Unlock the Second Mysterious Chamber

Okay, so I just finished all the puzzles in the first Mysterious Chamber, and now the game is telling me to go talk to Hassian and Sifuu before heading back to the main area of the Temple of the Flames. I’m following the quest marker and it’s leading me to Hassian, who’s near the entrance to the next Mysterious Chamber, but it looks like that one’s locked for now.

Talk to Hassian, and he’ll tell you that you need to solve another puzzle to open the doors. You’ll notice four braziers – two on either side of the entrance. Under each one are symbols that match those you saw beneath the paintings in the lobby.

To solve this puzzle, you need to figure out the order the story events happened. Then, remember the symbols associated with those events and shoot arrows at the symbols in that same order. This will unlock the entrance to the next chamber.

  • Target the leftmost brazier first
  • Target the second rightmost brazier
  • Target the rightmost brazier next
  • Complete this puzzle by targeting the second leftmost brazier

How to Solve the Temple of the Flames Kitsuu Puzzle

Once players have solved the brazier puzzle and opened the door to the second Mysterious Chamber, they can proceed down the hall to find a Phoenix Statue. Interacting with this statue reveals a clue for the next puzzle. Before moving forward with the quest, be sure to talk to Hassian and Sifuu.

Okay, so I found Tau near this puzzle, and the way to get across is seriously a ‘leap of faith’! You have to go down the stairs, away from the statue, and then just… jump or glide. There’s an invisible platform you need to land on, but once you do, you can walk across to reach Tau. It’s a little nerve-wracking, but it works!

The final challenge inside the Temple of the Flames involves a tile puzzle next to Tau. You’ll need to arrange the tiles in the correct order to reveal a picture of a kitsuu. Completing this puzzle finishes the ‘A Catalyzing Caper’ quest and concludes your journey through the temple. Here’s a guide to help you solve it.

  • From the first row, move the second leftmost tile to the right side once.
  • Next is to move the second leftmost tile up once in the second row, then move the first leftmost tile once to the right.
  • Return to the first row and move down the current first leftmost tile once, and then move the current second leftmost tile once to the left side.
  • Back to the second row, where you can move the current second leftmost tile up once and the current first leftmost tile to the right side once.
  • Complete the puzzle by moving the remaining tiles in the first row to the left side once to form the image of the kitsuu.

Once you finish the quest, you’ll earn 55 Renown and improve your relationship with both Hassian and Tau. This will also immediately start the next quest, Vault of the Flames, allowing you to talk to Jina to continue the storyline.
