Okay, so in Resident Evil Requiem, there’s this really cool free minigame called Leon Must Die Forever. Basically, you play as Leon and have to battle through different parts of each level to get to the final boss, Victor Gideon. It’s tough – the enemies get harder and harder – but thankfully, there’s tons of loot to help you level up and get stronger so you actually stand a chance!
Don’t worry about failing repeatedly in Leon Must Die Forever – it’s part of the game! If you’re looking for help to finally win, we’ve created a guide with the strategies we used to succeed. Check it out for some winning tips!
Use Leftover Challenge Points on Upgrades
New Special Content Specifically for LMDF Helps Each Run
- Med Injectors & Green Herbs can be added to your inventory at the start of every run.
If you earned Challenge Points while playing the main game, you can use them to help you in Leon Must Die Forever. Using them on special content – like Green Herbs and Med Injectors – will give you extra healing items at the beginning of each attempt.
You can also spend CP on things like Ability Boosts, but these only work if you’ve unlocked the corresponding Enhanced Ability. Because of this, it’s a good idea to regularly buy healing items to stay healthy and avoid dying from a single error.
Save Your Ammo and Shoot the Leg
Legshots Let You Kick Zombies to Deal More Damage Without Wasting Bullets
- Aim for the leg, and you can stun zombies, which allows you to kick them and perform finishers.
Zombies can surprisingly withstand shots to the head, likely because their brains aren’t very active. Therefore, headshots are most effective with rifles. However, since you’ll probably have more pistol ammunition, it’s better to aim for the legs when using a handgun.
If you shoot a zombie in the leg, it’ll fall to one knee, leaving it stunned. While it’s down, you can kick it with the X/A button, which actually does more damage than a headshot. Plus, the kick can also stun nearby zombies, making it a really efficient way to deal damage with just one bullet instead of needing several for a headshot.
Plan Your Route
Safety Over Efficiency, Always
- Rushing to Lv. 20 is an easy way to die, so make sure you check the map to see where you can go next.
Leon Must Die Forever features a unique system where enemy difficulty increases with each stage – they gain more health and deal more damage as you progress. Because of this, it’s best to complete as many stages as you can to collect loot and power-ups before challenging the final boss.
| Level | Stage |
|---|---|
| Lv. 1 | Main Street |
| Lv. 5 | Care Center |
| Lv. 9 | East Raccoon City: Central Camp |
| Lv. 10 | Blister Borne |
| Lv. 20 | Victor |
You can use the in-game map to find out where each red door will take you. Some doors lead straight to the final boss, while others advance you to the next area. We suggest completing as many areas as you can to get better abilities and weapons, because going to the boss too early will likely result in defeat.
Know How to Beat Red and Blue Enemies
Bullets Aren’t Always the Answer to Some Enemy Types
- Blue enemies need to be parried with the Hatchet so you can inflict more damage.
- Red enemies are resistant to gunfire, so use close combat attacks and grenades.
Leon Must Die Forever features familiar enemies, but also introduces new variants with blue and red auras. These auras give the enemies special abilities that can either hinder your progress or drain your resources, making the game more challenging.
To defeat red enemies, use close-range attacks like melee and grenades. For blue enemies, focus on parrying – this will make them vulnerable and easier to damage with bullets. Understanding these enemy weaknesses will help you conserve ammo and finish fights faster.
Locate and Shoot Midas Spinners
Golden Spiders Reward More Seconds on the Timer
- Midas Spinners extend your remaining time, so looking for them and shooting them is a priority.
Midas Spinners are small, golden spiders that like to hide in corners where they’re hard to see. You don’t need to go looking for them, but if you happen to spot one out of the corner of your eye, it’s worth taking a closer look.
Midas Spinners give you extra time in the game, preventing you from running out of clock before it ends. They’re easy to destroy – just one bullet will do – and can add more than a minute to your total playtime.
Loot Like There’s No Tomorrow
Don’t Worry About the Timer, Focus on Looting for Weapons & Ammo
- Check crates for weapons, loot dead zombies, and boxes for ammo and healing items.
It’s a race against time, but survival is just as crucial as finishing quickly – after all, if you die, you have to start all over. Balance speed with gathering resources; don’t focus on time alone.
You’ll usually find ammo after defeating enemies, and weapon crates are placed throughout the map with random weapons inside. Just like in the story mode, Green Herbs and Med Injectors can be lifesavers, so be sure to collect them and save them for when you really need them.
Consider Each Enhancer Ability Before Going All In
Enhancer Abilities Are Randomized Between a Choice of Three
- Enhancer Abilities are activated with L1+Triangle after killing enough zombies, and they let you pick 1 of 3 enhancements that can strengthen your gameplay.
In Leon Must Die Forever, you unlock special abilities called Enhancer Abilities just by playing the game – earning points by defeating enemies and completing levels. Once you’ve scored enough points, you can press L1 + Triangle to open a menu with three different upgrades to choose from, but you can only select one at a time.
Each time you play, the powers you get are different, keeping things fresh. Pay attention to what each power does before you pick it, though – some are really powerful! For example, in one playthrough, we could set zombies on fire just by kicking them, which took them out almost immediately.
Avoid Hatchet Combat Unless Necessary
You Cannot Sharpen the Hatchet Manually
- The Hatchet can be repaired by finding green hatchets.
- Use the Hatchet to parry and to finish enemies with R2/RT.
Leon traditionally relies on the Hatchet, but in Leon Must Die Forever, it breaks down with use and can’t be repaired the way it is in the original game. Because of this, it’s best to save the Hatchet for when you really need it.
Save the Hatchet for blocking crucial attacks to prevent taking damage, and try to hold onto it until you face a boss – successful parries can be vital in those fights. You’re still able to use it, though! You can restore its durability by finding a green Hatchet while you explore.
