Nintendo Reveals the 5 Best-Selling Switch 2 Games So Far

So, Nintendo just dropped the sales numbers for Switch 2 games, and it’s awesome! It looks like buying a Switch 2 was a great move because the exclusive titles are really selling. I’m especially glad games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are only on the new console – that made me upgrade for sure. It’s cool to see they’re doing well, and even some updated versions of older games are hitting the top charts!

Nintendo is still actively releasing great new games for the Switch, including titles you can only find on its system. However, the console’s price is increasing to $499.99 on September 1st. To justify this higher price, Nintendo needs to consistently offer a strong lineup of excellent games.

Best-Selling Switch 2 Games

Mario Kart World 14.70 million
Donkey Kong Bananza 4.52 million
Pokemon Legends: Z-A 3.94 million
Pokemon Pokopia 2.41 million (technically 4 million+)
Kirby Air Riders 1.87 million

Nintendo recently shared sales figures for several games exclusive to the Switch 2. While these numbers are current as of March 31st and may not be exact, here’s how the games are performing: Mario Kart World has sold 14.7 million copies, followed by Donkey Kong Bananza with 4.52 million, Pokemon Legends: Z-A at 3.94 million, Pokemon Pokopia at 2.41 million, and Kirby Air Riders with 1.87 million units sold.

Nintendo recently announced that Pokemon Pokopia has sold over 4 million copies since its release, though a precise number will be available next quarter. This puts Pokopia likely ahead of sales for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but probably a bit behind Donkey Kong Bananza. Considering Donkey Kong Bananza came out just over a month after the Switch 2 launched and Pokopia is only a couple of months old, these numbers are very impressive. If sales continue at this pace, Pokopia could eventually match or nearly reach the sales of Mario Kart World.

The main reason Pokopia isn’t selling as well as Mario Kart World is that Mario Kart World was included with many of the new Switch 2 consoles when they first came out. A new Switch 2 bundle featuring Pokopia is coming soon, but right now it’s only confirmed for Australia and New Zealand. If this bundle becomes available in more places, it might give Pokopia the boost it needs to eventually match or even exceed Mario Kart World‘s sales.

If Nintendo increases the price of the Switch 2, we can expect fewer people to buy the new console, which would likely mean fewer game sales as well. It will be interesting to see the overall impact of the price increase. However, with almost 20 million Switch consoles already sold, there’s already a large player base who may still purchase games for the new system.
