The “Front to Back” achievement in Mixtape can be really tricky. If you don’t carefully observe your surroundings during your first time playing, you might have to start the whole game over to get it.
The ‘Front to Back’ section of the game asks you to examine everything in each of the four characters’ bedrooms. It’s important to check everything, because some players have found that missing a single item can prevent them from revisiting the chapter to find it. To save you trouble, we’ve compiled a complete list of all the items you need to find.
Play through the entire game without using the chapter select feature. Sometimes, chapter select doesn’t work correctly, so it’s best to experience everything in one continuous playthrough.
All Items & Conversations in Rockford’s Room
At the beginning of the game, you’ll visit Stacey Rockford’s house. Be sure to search the second floor, including Stacey’s bedroom, her sister’s room, and the hallway bathroom.
These are the items to focus on once you reach the second-floor hallway:
- Red radio on top of the drawer.
- A painting hung from the wall next to the staircase.
- A picture of Stacey, located on the drawer in front of the painting.
- A family picture hung from the wall, next to Stacey’s sister’s room.
- A cloth on the sink inside the bathroom.
It’s time to head into Stacey’s room to interact with these items:
- Portishead’s Dummy CD on the bookshelf.
- Cassette recorder on the same bookshelf.
- David Shire’s Unused Score CD on the shelf next to the PC.
- VHS tapes next to the TV, in front of the bed.
- Keyboard plushie on the bed.
- Skateboard next to the bed.
- The turntable on the drawer in front of the window.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Cassettes on the PC desk.
After you get to this point, you’ll see a new memory unfold. Once it finishes and you’re back in the room, look for these items:
- Polaroids on the closet door.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- VHS player on top of the TV.
Okay, so the search got cut short by another flashback, and now I’m back in the room. Time to check things out again. Here’s what I need to look at next:
- Empty closet.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Polaroids on the wall, next to the room’s door (you will be tasked with finding the three missing polaroids).
- A Polaroid on the drawer next to the bed, inside a book.
- A Polaroid on top of a handful of books on the ground, placed next to the bookshelf.
- A Polaroid on the closet door.
- Polaroids on the wall, next to the door (again).
After you’ve finished arranging the Polaroids on the wall, you can start focusing on the next memory. Here’s what to do next:
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Interact with the box on the chair near the PC.
The next memory will begin shortly, and after that, we’ll return to the room one final time. Please take a look around to finish examining Stacey’s room.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Interact with the bulletin board (then interact with every card pinned on the board).
Okay, so as a gamer, let me tell you – you have to look at every single card on the board. Seriously! If you don’t, you’re probably going to miss out on getting that achievement, and nobody wants that!
All Items & Conversations in Debbie’s Room
Once you’ve searched Stacey’s room, the door to Debbie’s room will open. Then, go inside and check for these things:
- The box on the ground, next to Cass.
- The trophy on top of the blue desk.
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
- The wardrobe near the door.
The wardrobe is locked, but trying to access it will grant you new interactable items:
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Interact with the picture on top of the green drawer.
This will transport Stacey to a new memory, revealing why she doesn’t particularly like Jenny Goodspeed. After she returns, you’ll have another chance to search Debbie’s room.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Open the drawer.
- Look for the latter piece of the ticket. It’s beneath the stuff inside the drawer, in the top right corner.
When you’re back in the room again, you can pick up the key to the wardrobe. So, do the following:
- Pick up the seashell on the blue desk.
- Interact with the wardrobe.
You’ve now checked everything in Debbie’s room, finishing up this part of the investigation at Rockford’s house. The story will now lead you to explore the forests around Blue Moon Lagoon, eventually bringing you to another character’s room.
All Items & Conversations in Cassandra’s Room
After following the tracks for a while, you’ll reach Cassandra’s room. Most of the important objects are inside, but one is still out in the hallway. Let’s start by examining that one.
- Get out of the room and check out Cassandra’s family picture in the hallway. It’s also worth checking out the other room’s door.
The rest of the items are inside Cassandra’s room:
- The book on the bookshelf next to the entrance door.
- The bulletin board, next to the bathroom door.
- The cassette on the drawer next to the bed.
- Cassandra’s picture hung from the wall, near her desk.
- A drawing of a flower, hung from the wall, next to the window.
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
- The trophy inside the cabinet.
You’ll now see flashbacks revealing details about Cassandra’s past, but the scene will quickly return to her room. The search for clues isn’t over – it’s still ongoing.
- Cassandra’s bed.
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
- The notice on the bathroom wall, next to the mirror.
This will play another memory, before you can resume the inspection:
- Wallpaper next to the trophy cabinet.
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
- The picture on the tiny table next to the bathroom door.
You’ll discover a new detail about Jenny Goodspeed before returning to Cassandra’s room to continue your search.
- Speak with Slater.
- Speak with Cass.
- Interact with the contract on the bed.
Another break from searching the room. When you are back, there is new stuff to interact with:
- Trophy cabinet (again).
- Drapes on top of the window (look up to see the interaction marker).
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
- The open window behind Slater.
This is Cassandra’s last message to you. After you return, there will be just two more interactions, and then you’re finished.
- Speak with Cass.
- Speak with Slater.
That concludes everything in Cassandra’s room. Once you’ve spoken with her father, there’s just one room remaining to investigate.
All Items & Conversations in the Ritz (Skippable)
You don’t have to search the Ritz hotel to unlock the ‘Front to Back’ achievement. The items you need are actually in Slater’s room – you can jump ahead to find them. We’ve included information about the Ritz anyway, just in case you’re interested in exploring it.
You don’t need to read this section to continue with the main process, but here’s a list of things you can look at if you’re interested.
- A poster of Camille on the table.
- A beer on the box next to the table.
- An old refrigerator near the railings.
- A flask on the box next to the yellow car.
- A radio on a round table.
- The window of the cabin.
- Speak with Slater.
- The color cans on the ground, in front of the cabin.
- The rocks in front of the sofa.
- The sofa itself.
- Speak with Slater (three times).
- The slingshot on the blue car.
Okay, so I just finished up the slingshot training thing, and that’s it for everything I needed to do at the Ritz! Now it’s time to head over to Slater’s room and see what’s next.
All Items & Conversations in Slater’s Room
As you progress, you’ll eventually enter Slater’s room. You can examine several items inside, and you won’t be bothered by as many flashbacks this time around.
Okay, great news – it looks like everything we need is actually in the room! So, let’s start by checking these things out…
- The purple electric orb near the staircase.
- The robot next to the purple orb.
- The Polaroids near the TV.
- The book on the sofa.
- The blue guitar on the sofa.
- The picture on the drawer next to the window.
- The vinyl disc on the drawer, near the aquarium.
- The fish inside the aquarium.
- The mini-master device on the PC desk.
- The drawings on the wall above the bed, behind the PC.
- The purple lava lamp, next to the brown drawer.
- Speak with Slater.
- The cassette player next to the lava lamp.
Okay, so that was a pretty long checklist, but we’re almost there! After I finish checking out Slater’s new track, here’s what I still need to do:
- Speak with Slater.
- Interact with the VHS tape on Slater’s bed.
You’ve now checked everything in Slater’s room! If you followed all the steps, you should unlock the “Front to Back” achievement.
It’s best to check everything and talk to everyone in one playthrough. If you skip anything, you can try using the chapter select, but you might not unlock the achievement if you didn’t do it all in a single run.
