Former Tekken Boss Katsuhiro Harada Forms New Studio With SNK

Katsuhiro Harada, the producer behind the popular Tekken and Soul Calibur fighting game series, announced last December that he was leaving Bandai Namco after three decades. Now, he’s revealed his next move: he’s starting a new game studio in partnership with SNK.

I was so excited to read that Katsuhiro Harada is heading up a brand new studio called SNK VS Studio in Tokyo! Apparently, he’s the CEO. He said their main goal is to push boundaries and really focus on making games that are perfect – not just technically, but in how they feel to play. He wants a really open and creative workspace where they can come up with fresh ideas and build truly unforgettable gaming experiences. It sounds like they’re really aiming high, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Harada continued in his statement, explaining his future outlook:

After years of working in game development, I’ve always thought about what makes a great environment for developers and how to best spend my time as one. I believe VS Studio helps answer that. We’re focused on combining strong technology with expert knowledge, and collaborating with dedicated teammates, all to create amazing gaming experiences for players around the world.

We want VS Studio to keep pushing boundaries and are excited to welcome new team members who are as passionate about our goals as we are. Stay tuned for what’s next from VS Studio!

The fighting game world is surprised to learn that Katsuhiro Harada, the creator of the long-running Tekken series, has joined SNK. SNK is a company owned by Saudi Arabia and famous for classic fighting games such as The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, and Samurai Shodown. While his next project isn’t confirmed, it’s expected he’ll be working on a new fighting game.
