Gohan remains a fan favorite largely because of the incredible events of the Cell Saga – moments that are unforgettable for any Dragon Ball enthusiast. While it was exciting to see Gohan reach Super Saiyan 2, he wouldn’t have achieved that power without the challenge posed by Perfect Cell.
Although Perfect Cell isn’t as powerful as some of the villains in Dragon Ball Super, he’s widely considered one of the greatest anime villains ever. He played a crucial role in pushing Gohan to unlock his full potential, making him one of Gohan’s most challenging and memorable opponents.
5. Super Buu Eventually Got The Better Of Ultimate Gohan in His Ultimate DBZ Battle

Honestly, seeing Gohan finally unleash his full potential was incredible! He became the strongest fighter in the Buu Saga – period, without needing to fuse with anyone. The way he completely dominated Super Buu was a stunning display of just how much power he’d been holding back. It was a truly awesome moment!
Super Buu’s advantage didn’t last long. He grew even more powerful after absorbing Gotenks, becoming what fans call ‘Buutenks’. This new form was incredibly strong, surpassing even Ultimate Gohan. Buutenks then absorbed Gohan himself, resulting in the most powerful version of Buu seen yet.

4. Gohan Showed His Strategic Mind Against Dyspo
Story Arc: Universe Survival Saga (Anime)
What makes Gohan such a compelling character is that he’s more than just a powerful fighter like the other Saiyans. He’s a true genius and a skilled strategist, equally relying on his intelligence and physical strength. His battle with Dyspo perfectly demonstrates this unique combination.
Gohan quickly realizes his opponent from Universe 11 is too fast to fight head-on. He comes up with a clever plan, teaming up with Frieza to restrict the warrior’s movement. This allows Gohan to use his better fighting skills to gain the advantage. Although Dyspo briefly takes control, Gohan manages to trap him, ultimately sacrificing himself to eliminate Dyspo from the tournament.
3. Legendary Super SaiyanKefla Was A Real Test Of Gohan’s Abilities

This version of the Tournament of Power arc differs from the anime: Kefla didn’t fight Ultra Instinct Sign Goku in her final battle. Instead, she battled Gohan, and both Saiyans pushed themselves to their maximum strength trying to eliminate each other.
This battle in the Tournament of Power was one of the most intense and closely matched of the entire competition. The incredibly powerful Super Saiyan Kefla pushed Goku’s Ultimate form to its absolute limit – even more so than when he fought Super Buu. Kefla’s strength, equivalent to a Potara fusion, really showcased just how far Gohan had grown as a fighter.
2. Gamma 1 Fought Gohan Very Evenly

The Red Ribbon Army created the Gamma Androids to challenge the heroes, who had become very powerful during the Super Hero arc. Gamma 1 proved to be a match for Ultimate Gohan, while Gamma 2 battled Piccolo, who was using his latest new forms.
Saiyans consistently grow more powerful over time thanks to abilities like Zenkai Boosts. This means Ultimate Gohan was even stronger when he fought Gamma 1 than he was during his battle with Kefla in the Tournament of Power. Considering how evenly matched they were, Gamma 1 is clearly one of Gohan’s most challenging opponents.
1. Cell Max Awoke The Greatest Power Ever in Gohan
Story Arc: Super Hero Arc
The Super Hero arc concluded with the revelation that the Red Ribbon Army’s plan for world domination revolved around Cell Max, a bio-android with incredible power – far surpassing even the strongest heroes. When Cell Max became active, a power even greater than Ultimate Gohan was required to defeat him.
When Gohan believed Piccolo had been killed, his intense anger unlocked a hidden power, transforming him into ‘Beast Gohan.’ This new form makes him as strong as Goku and Vegeta. With this transformation, he quickly defeated a remarkably powerful enemy that no one else could even withstand.
