Chainsaw Man Officially Beats Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Sales Record

Although the Chainsaw Man manga finished its run with Chapter 232 in March, it’s still incredibly popular. Following the success of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, fans are eagerly awaiting Season 2. Many consider Chainsaw Man to be one of the best series ever published in Weekly Shonen Jump. Volume 24, which includes 12 new pages and potentially expands on the ending, will be released in Japan later this summer.

Just before the final volume of Chainsaw Man is released, the series has reached a new sales milestone, according to Oricon News. Earlier this year, both Chainsaw Man and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End exceeded 35 million copies sold, surpassing the total sales of long-running series like Death Note, Dr. Slump, and Pokémon Adventures. Now, as of May, Chainsaw Man has officially taken the lead, selling an additional million copies and breaking past 36 million total copies sold.

Chainsaw Man Manga Hits 36 Million Copies Sold

Chainsaw Man Officially Outsells Frieren & One-Punch Man

With over 36 million copies sold, Chainsaw Man has become the best-selling manga in Shonen Jump history. Volume 23 of the series was released in Japan in February, and Volume 20 became available in the United States this March. Because Viz Media releases the English versions about 11 months after the Japanese releases, fans in the US won’t be able to read the English translation of the final volume until 2027.

The manga Chainsaw Man has officially outsold both Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and One-Punch Man. This is particularly noteworthy because Chainsaw Man achieved this with only 23 volumes, while One-Punch Man had 36. Although Frieren, with just 15 volumes, is expected to eventually surpass Chainsaw Man in total sales, Chainsaw Man is currently the best-selling of the three.

Chainsaw Man’s Final Volume & Last 12 Pages Release on June 4, 2026

Goodbye, Chainsaw Man

The final volume of Chainsaw Man, Volume 24, will be released in Japan on June 4, 2026. It includes chapters 223 to 232, which cover the conclusion of the fight between Denji and Yoru, the end of the world, and the events surrounding Pochita’s reset of the timeline as shown in the final chapter. However, there are still twelve pages missing to reach the expected total length of the volume.

These extra pages could contain anything – maybe blank spaces, drawings of Pochita, or, as many fans hope, a new chapter that adds to the story after the somewhat divisive ending of Chainsaw Man, or even teases a possible continuation. However, since Tatsuki Fujimoto’s editor, Shihei Lin, has left Jump, the likelihood of a proper continuation of Chainsaw Man seems low.
