The action game 007 First Light is finished and ready to be shipped to stores! Development is complete, though a small update might be released on launch day. Overall, the game is now being prepared for release.
It’s unlikely that 007 First Light will be delayed any further. While games like Cyberpunk 2077 have been delayed even after going ‘gold’ (meaning development was finished), that’s usually a bad sign. For now, this is positive news – it suggests we’re on track for the May 27th release date.
007 First Light is Going Out into the Wild
IO Interactive, the studio behind the upcoming game 007 First Light, recently announced a tempting offer for fans: pre-order the game and receive a free upgrade to the deluxe edition. This is a strong incentive, even though many gamers are now hesitant about pre-ordering games. The offer lasts until the game launches, and those who pre-order now will also get exclusive in-game items, including the Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, and Silent Anchor outfits, the Gentleman Operator outfit, Gleaming Pack gadget skins, and the Agent’s Mark weapon skin.

When a video game ‘goes gold,’ it means the main development phase is finished – a significant step for any title. Typically, this announcement comes about two weeks before the game officially launches, so fans shouldn’t expect any big surprises. For the developers at IO Interactive, going gold doesn’t necessarily mean they’re done either. They’ll likely continue to support 007 First Light with bug fixes and may even release downloadable content in the future. While it’s still uncertain what’s planned long-term, the immediate next step is the game’s release.
I’m so hyped for 007 First Light! From what I’ve heard, it looks like it’ll take around 20 hours to finish the game, which seems like a really good length for a Bond title. Of course, that’s just an estimate – some of us will probably blast through it faster, and others might take a bit longer depending on how we like to play. But honestly, 20 hours sounds perfect to me!
It’s still early to say how the game will be received overall, but TopMob Editor in Chief Anthony Taormina recently spent three hours playing 007 First Light. He was impressed with the variety of gameplay, both in the immediate action and the different ways players can tackle challenges. Taormina believes that if First Light represents the future of 007 video games, the James Bond franchise is in good shape.
