Fans are disappointed with the latest season of Pokemon Champions, Season M-2. While there was a lot of excitement leading up to its release last month, players found the game lacked content. Specifically, it has a limited number of items – mostly Berries and simple stat boosters – and only includes under 200 different Pokemon. However, there’s hope that the next season, arriving June 17th, will address these issues.
The game currently lacks variety, and the only real fix is to add more Pokemon and items. While starting with a limited selection isn’t a problem, having the same gameplay for two seasons in a row isn’t great. Many players hoped today, May 13th, would bring a refresh with the new season, but unfortunately, no new content was added to expand the Pokedex in Pokemon Champions.

So, Season M-2 of Pokemon Champions was a bit of a letdown – basically just a new battle pass. But it looks like the developers are planning something bigger for next season! When the game launched, they said placements would be tracked each season, and that seemed to apply to M-2, which made a lot of us think we wouldn’t be getting any new Pokemon or items. However, digging through the official roadmap, it also mentions that new Pokemon could be added in Regulation M-B, which is the next big ruleset. So, there’s still hope for some fresh content!

The new regulation will begin on June 17th, coinciding with the end of the current season of Pokemon Champions. Following a similar pattern, Season 11 of Pokemon Legends: Z-A also starts today, immediately after Season 10 finished. This suggests that Regulation M-B will likely receive updates soon, as indicated in the early roadmap – though these additions aren’t confirmed yet. Considering the positive response to Pokemon Champions at launch, adding new Pokemon seems like a natural way to keep the game fresh, diversify competitive battling, and establish it as a thriving live-service platform.
The producer of Pokemon Champions recently responded to fan complaints about the game’s graphics, an issue that was also a problem when it initially came out.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be too upset if the new game didn’t have a ton of new Pokémon. If they really focused on adding cool new items, it could be amazing! Something like the Assault Vest would totally shake things up – it would make Pokémon like Tyranitar (the non-Mega version!) seriously powerful, and give a big boost to others like Archaludon and Kingambit. Plus, right now, so much of the battling scene revolves around moves that cause flinching – things like Fake Out and Rock Slide. Adding an item like Covert Cloak to Pokémon Champions would be a huge help in dealing with that, and I really hope they consider it!
Covert Cloak is a powerful ability because it eliminates all additional effects from attacks, protecting the user from being flinched or afflicted with status conditions like burns from moves such as Heat Wave and Scald, or freezes from Blizzard and Ice Beam. Newly introduced Pokémon like Ursaluna could significantly strengthen teams built around strategies like Trick Room in Pokémon Champions, and the same applies to potential Mega Evolutions coming in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which could dramatically change the competitive landscape with their new abilities. While not confirmed, the game’s planned updates suggest these changes are highly probable.
