In Far Far West, you level up your Hero by finishing missions. Each mission gives you XP, with harder missions and completing extra objectives awarding more. But, completely clearing a map on the hardest setting isn’t always the quickest way to gain levels in Far Far West.
If you’re powerful or experienced, replaying missions on Easy mode could be a good strategy. However, if you want to progress in all areas of the game, playing through the normal difficulty will likely be the fastest way to do it.
How to Farm Hero XP in Far Far West
I’ve discovered the quickest way to gain levels in Far Far West is by repeatedly playing Easy missions with simple goals. If you have a good setup, you should be able to finish an Easy mission in under five minutes. Although each mission gives less XP than harder ones, you can complete Easy missions so much faster that it evens out – and often results in quicker overall leveling.
To complete missions quickly, focus on Cryptic Totem missions against the Necromancer, Vulture, or Train bosses. Using your best, highest-level weapons will help you finish them even faster.
You earn more Hero XP for finishing missions when you play on harder difficulties. Easy mode gives you 1200 XP, but Nightmare mode rewards 1920 XP. Keep in mind this doesn’t include extra XP from side objectives or the 200 XP you get simply for playing. While repeating Easy missions might get you more XP per hour, that depends on how fast you can complete them.
I’ve been experimenting with speedrunning Far Far West missions, and you can actually do it on any difficulty! But if you really want to maximize your XP gains, rushing the boss on Nightmare mode is the way to go – if you’re skilled enough to win, of course. It’s a risk, but the reward is the fastest XP per hour.
Far Far West Speedrun Build
If you truly want to speedrun your missions in Far Far West, equip the following:
- Impulse Grenade
- Moon Gravity (Hero Joker)
- Speedy Gunzales (Hero Joker)
- Boing (Spell)
I’ve discovered a really cool trick with the Impulse Grenade! If you use it at the right angle, it can launch you across the map. Combine that with the Boing and Moon Gravity abilities, and I can actually reach the main objective right when a mission starts! The best part is, almost all objectives have extra Utility pickups, so I can recharge my Impulse Grenade for another attempt at a super-fast run to the boss. Before heading to the boss, I always mark the objective’s location on my map. That way, if the boss arena doesn’t have any more Utility pickups, or if it just makes sense to do so, I can quickly grab them and get ready for another launch.
Here’s a quick reminder: use the Impulse Grenade to quickly launch towards your goal, and then chain together Jump, Dash, and Boing to keep moving through the air. This technique is also really effective for completing hidden missions in Far Far West.
The Impulse Grenade isn’t essential, but it can speed up getting around. Characters with fast movement, like Speedy Gonzales, Run & Reload, Rampage, and Disgrace, can help you quickly reach your goals with bunny hopping. And if you’re still slow, you can always rely on your horse to travel between locations.
Looking for a quick way to earn Hero XP in Far Far West? Jump into Nightmare mode and make sure you’re equipped with your best weapons, plus these essential Jokers and spells.
- 2x Soul Siphon (Hero)
- 1x Ammo Supply (Weapon)
- Thunderstrike (Spell)
- Bandito (Spell)
- Boing (Spell)
These strategies will help you stay alive and keep your ammunition stocked while facing the large groups of enemies in Nightmare mode. If you find yourself surrounded, use Thunderstrike to quickly create some space, and call in a Bandito when the situation becomes overwhelming. Nightmare mode is also a great way to quickly level up your weapons in Far Far West because of the sheer number and durability of the enemies you’ll encounter.
