The Sonic Resonator is essential in Subnautica 2 – you can’t continue playing without it! Many key interactions depend on this tool, and you’ll miss important caves and upgrades if you don’t have it.
The Sonic Resonator is the only way to eliminate unusual ocean formations and massive ore deposits. This guide will show you where to find its blueprint, gather the necessary crafting materials, and learn how to use it effectively.
How to Get the Sonic Resonator Blueprint in Subnautica 2
To get the blueprint for the Sonic Resonator, you need to scan two broken versions of it that are underwater. While there are multiple broken resonators throughout the game, we’ve located and marked two for you.
- The first and easiest instance of Sonic Resonator to find is located inside an abandoned base, where Quaker’s signal is being sent from.
- Start from the Lifepod and swim north until you are 415 meters away from the home location.
- You should be able to spot a hatch under the water. Enter the base, take a right immediately. Here, you will find a Sonic Resonator sitting on a shelf. Scan it to get the first part of the blueprint.
- The second scannable Sonic Resonator is located near an anomaly that you should actually use the tool on to open the entry point to a cave.
- The secIf you have unlocked Wander’s signal, that is a great hint to the tool’s location; if not, start from the Lifepod and move 248 degrees, between Southwest and West, until you are 235 meters away from the Lifepod.
- You should be able to spot a metal platform underwater with some boxes and chests on it.
- Inside a white box, you can find and scan the second Sonic Resonator.
You can find Wander’s audio log on the same platform. There’s a strange, organic growth – a Bloom Biofilm – around a hole nearby, and you’ll need to use the Sonic Resonator to clear it away.
How to Craft the Sonic Resonator in Subnautica 2
Okay, so you’ve got the plans – excellent. Now head back to your Lifepod. You’ll need to fire up the Fabricator and build a Sonic Resonator. Here’s what you’ll need to put into it:
- x1 Basic Battery
- Craft it in the Fabricator using Copper ore (2x) and Acidic Raion Pouch (1x)
- x2 Lead ore
- x1 Wiring Kit
- Craft it in the Fabricator using Silver ore (1x) and Copper Wire (1x)
- x1 Titanium Ingots
- Craft it in the Processor using Titanium ore (6x)
It’s tricky to find Silver ore rocks you can collect without a Sonic Resonator, but you can locate some by searching the deep ocean floor northeast of the Lifepod.
Titanium Ingots can be tricky to get. While you might find a few while exploring the ocean, they’re quite rare. The most reliable way to get them is by crafting them with the Processor. However, that requires a bit of work: you’ll first need to get the Habitat Builder to create a base, then acquire the Processor blueprint, and finally craft the ingots themselves.
How to Use the Sonic Resonator in Subnautica 2
- Destroy Bloom Biofilm.
- Mine larger ores.
The Sonic Resonator can be used to eliminate the Bloom Biofilm, a white, flower-like growth that’s actually dangerous to the ocean. It blocks access to cave entrances, stopping players from fully exploring the underwater world.
As you progress, you’ll notice a strange, virus-like growth appearing on some fish, making them more dangerous and aggressive. Luckily, the Sonic Resonator allows you to remove this growth, called Bloom Biofilm, and restore the creatures to normal.
The virus will infect certain Gene Donors, causing them to go into hiding. To get important alien abilities, you’ll need to find and free these hidden Donors by using the Sonic Resonator and claiming the benefits they offer.
Besides its other uses, the Sonic Resonator can also be used for mining. You may have noticed some large metal ores that your Survival Tool can’t break. The Sonic Resonator is perfect for those! It’s a powerful tool that lets you quickly mine large amounts of ore, saving you a lot of time when gathering materials.
