In Directive 8020, many players will likely focus on keeping the main characters alive, as the choices you make and how quickly you react have a big impact on who makes it to the end.
This game features a story that changes based on your choices – even one wrong decision can have lasting consequences. If you’re trying to get the “We Have Reserves” trophy in Directive 8020, you’ll need to follow a precise sequence of steps, which unfortunately includes letting some crew members perish. The guide below details everything you need to do to unlock it.
How to Send the Second Team For Redirecting Fuel in Directive 8020
First, if you haven’t already, go back to the “Redirect” section of Episode 8. In this part, you’ll play as Stafford and work to get the elevator’s power back on.
When you head to the Crew Lounge, a Mimic disguised as Eisele will show up. Usually, you’d avoid fighting it, but to get this trophy, you need Stafford to be killed. Simply walk straight towards the Mimic, and when prompted with a quick-time event, deliberately fail it by pressing the wrong button. This will cause the Mimic to kill Stafford.
During the next scene, Eisele will run off by herself, so you don’t need to intervene. Afterwards, the “Atrium” section will begin. As soon as it does, you’ll see a creature disguised as a crew member directly in front of you. Approach it and deliberately fail the quick-time event. This is necessary to ensure Eisele also dies in this encounter.
After Stafford and Eisele pass away, a cutscene starts with Cooper trying to reach them about the fuel. When she gets no response, Cooper and Young decide to refuel the ship themselves. During the “Back Up” section, a cutscene shows the crew completing the refueling process, and you’ll unlock the “We Have Reserves” trophy or achievement during this time.
Don’t worry if you’re aiming for the achievement of saving everyone! You can get this trophy now and then use the Turning Points system to go back to the “Redirect” moment and replay that part correctly, or you can finish the story and come back to it later.
