Akira Toriyama’s final project, Dragon Ball DAIMA, felt like a heartfelt tribute to everything Dragon Ball. It combined the adventurous spirit of the original Dragon Ball with the high-energy action of Dragon Ball Z, all while aiming to evoke the fond memories of those who watched Dragon Ball GT as kids.
With stunning animation and art, DAIMA is a truly impressive addition to the Dragon Ball series, and many fans feel it’s a stronger continuation of DBZ than Dragon Ball Super. After almost two years since its debut, Crunchyroll has at last revealed the release date that Dragon Ball DAIMA fans have eagerly awaited.
Crunchyroll Celebrates 40 Years of Dragon Ball With a New Dragon Ball DAIMA Release
Crunchyroll first announced the Blu-ray release of Dragon Ball DAIMA for March 3, 2026, nearly two years after the passing of Akira Toriyama. However, the release was unexpectedly delayed, and pre-orders were removed from the Crunchyroll Store earlier in the year. Now, after a long wait, Crunchyroll has announced a new release date for the Blu-ray.

The first season of Dragon Ball DAIMA will be available on Blu-ray starting August 11, 2026, and will include all 20 episodes. You can buy the complete season on Blu-ray for $55.98 at the Crunchyroll Store, which is less than the $69.98 price on Amazon. A Limited Edition Blu-ray will also be available for $75.98 on Crunchyroll, a discount from the $94.98 price at Amazon and other stores.
Dragon Ball DAIMA – The Complete Season – Blu-ray – Limited Edition is Packed With Goodies For Fans
The Limited Edition Blu-ray of Dragon Ball DAIMA offers a lot of extra content, making the higher price worthwhile. Along with all 20 episodes of the anime, you’ll receive seven collectible foil art cards featuring the main characters: Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Bulma, Shin, Glorio, and Panzy.
I noticed the special Limited Edition includes a sticker featuring Mini Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo together. It also comes in a really nice box with artwork on both sides. The front of the box shows Goku, Shin, Glorio, and Panzy traveling through the vibrant Demon Realm, and if you flip it over, you’ll see Kami’s Lookout floating among the clouds.
Dragon Ball DAIMA’s Blu-ray is For the Complete Season, Not the Complete Series
The Door is Still Open For Season 2
Crunchyroll is releasing Dragon Ball DAIMA as a complete season on Blu-ray, rather than a complete series. Although a second season hasn’t been confirmed, the anime ended with unanswered questions and hints of future storylines – new enemies were revealed, and the main characters hadn’t finished their journey. The Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC also suggests that a sequel to the anime is planned.
Fans can expect the new Dragon Ball Super: Beerus anime this fall, probably in October. Following that, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is planned for release sometime in either 2027 or 2028. With Dragon Ball DAIMA and Dragon Ball Super appealing to different tastes, it’s definitely possible for both shows to air simultaneously. While not officially announced, a second season of Dragon Ball DAIMA is still likely and many believe the story deserves to continue.
