My Hero Academia’s Biggest Anime Movie Gets An Official Netflix Release Date

In about a month, the latest My Hero Academia movie will be available on Netflix, which is great news for fans of the series and a big success for the streaming platform.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission To Make Its Netflix Debut This June

Fans of My Hero Academia have another way to enjoy the series, as My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission will be available on Netflix starting June 1st. This is a significant addition to the growing My Hero Academia content on the platform in 2026. Currently, the movie is streaming on Hulu and through various on-demand services. Previously, World Heroes’ Mission wasn’t available on Crunchyroll U.S., so many fans will be happy to find it on Netflix. Netflix has been adding My Hero Academia seasons and movies gradually in the U.S., most recently adding Seasons 3 and 7 on April 1st. In addition to World Heroes’ Mission, Netflix U.S. also streams the 2024 film My Hero Academia: You’re Next, as well as My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (2018) and My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019).

The third animated movie in the My Hero Academia series, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, first came out in Japan on August 6, 2021. It then became available in North America, the United Kingdom, and Ireland on October 29, 2012. Worldwide, the film has made over $47 million, making it one of the best-performing anime movies in North America, currently ranking as the sixteenth highest-grossing.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission: Plot Details And Cast

The story, directed by Kenji Nagasaki and written by Yosuke Kuroda, centers on Izuku Midoriya and fellow heroes like Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki as they fight against Humarise, a terrorist group led by Flect Turn. Flect believes that superpowers, called Quirks, are becoming too powerful and will eventually destroy humanity – a concept he calls the Quirk Singularity. He’s determined to eliminate Quirks, even if it means millions of people will die. To achieve this, Flect and his group deploy “Trigger Bombs” which release a gas that dramatically increases people’s Quirk abilities. This causes those affected to lose control, leading to fatal consequences as their powers spiral out of control.
