Ghost of Yotei Legends Received its ‘Last Major Planned Update’

Sucker Punch Productions has announced it will no longer add new major content to Ghost of Yotei Legends, the free online co-op mode for their PlayStation 5 game Ghost of Yotei. This means updates for the Legends mode have ended.

The first big update for Ghost of Yotei Legends, called Raid mode, launched on April 10th. However, it turns out this was also the last major update the game will receive. Sucker Punch has confirmed they don’t plan to release any further large updates for the co-op mode.

Sucker Punch’s Lead Designer Darren Bridges confirmed this on a recent PlayStation blog post:

With the recent Raid update, we’ve concluded our planned major updates for Legends. This update wraps up the story arc of the Yōtei Six within that game mode. We’re thrilled players have been enjoying it and continue to play, and we’re really grateful for the support.

It’s no surprise fans are upset by this news, especially since Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends mode received significant updates before the developers moved on. It’s also strange that Sony, after previously investing heavily in games with ongoing content, is ending support for Ghost of Yotei Legends so quickly. This could be a sign that Sony is shifting away from that model and trying to fix some questionable choices made recently.

Fans of Ghost of Yotei might have more to worry about than they thought. A recent rumor suggests Sony won’t release a PC version of the game, which would be a departure from their typical practice of bringing major titles to PC. The report also claims Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine won’t be available on PC either. Until Sony officially confirms this, it’s best to view this information as unconfirmed.

Ghost of Yotei is now available exclusively on PS5.
