How to Get Atacamite in Subnautica 2

Atacamite is a resource you’ll find later in the game in Subnautica 2 (as of the initial Early Access release). You’ll need it to create Mangalloy Ingots, which are essential for fixing the damaged turbine at the alien power plant.

To collect Atacamite, you’ll first need to unlock the Alien Ruins area. It’s also a good idea to build and attach the Depth Module to your Tadpole. And don’t forget the Sonic Resonator – you can’t mine Atacamite without it!

Where to Find Atacamite in Subnautica 2

You can find Atacamite in various spots around the Alien Ruins. There’s some near the Metal Farms, but it’s quite a distance from the base.

The best place to look is close to the damaged turbine. Begin at the Alien Ruins and swim in a direction of 110 degrees until you’re about 250 meters from the base. Then, head straight down to the ocean floor and search the sand beneath the alien platform.

Atacamite is found exclusively on the ocean floor, so you won’t find it on cliffs or in caves. It’s a dark, spiky mineral that can only be processed using a Sonic Resonator or a Feedback Resonator.

If you only need to repair the turbine, gather at least 10 Atacamite. The turbine needs 10 Mangalloy ingots, and Atacamite is one of the three materials used to make them.

Don’t forget to make Titanium ingots and gather Troilite ore. You’ll need a Processor at your base to create the ingots.

What Can You Craft with Atacamite in Subnautica 2?

Currently, in the Early Access version, Atacamite is solely used to create Mangalloy ingots, which are then used to repair the turbine. The developers may add more ways to use this dark green ore in future updates.

Atacamite is also useful for creating Metal Farms, making it a key component of this harvesting machine. In the current version of Subnautica 2, Metal Farms are powerful, late-game structures that significantly speed up resource collection, allowing you to build the bases you envision in the deep ocean.

If you can gather enough Atacamite and find some Troilite, repairing the turbine should be straightforward. Once the turbine is fixed, you’ll be able to access the Observatory and discover the story behind the ancient alien structures.
