Cartoon Network Africa premiered the new series “Regular Show: The Lost Tapes” on May 11th. Now, fans can get involved with a unique dubbing contest, promising plenty of quirky and unpredictable fun!
Cartoon Network Africa is celebrating the new release of Regular Show: The Lost Tapes with a special mobile dubbing studio tour across South Africa this May and June. Fans will have the chance to step inside and voice the character Rigby in a short clip, choosing to record in isiZulu, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, or Sesotho. If you’ve ever thought you could do a better Rigby voice, or wanted to hear Regular Show in your own language, now’s your chance!
The booth will pop up in three cities across the country on the following dates
- 29 – 31 May: Cresta Shopping Centre in Johannesburg
- 5 – 7 June: Mimosa Mall in Bloemfontein
- 12 – 14 June: The Pavilion Shopping Centre in Durban
So, anyone can join the competition, which is awesome! If you’re under 18, though, you just need to bring a parent or legal guardian with you. Pretty standard stuff, really.
Four winners – one for each language – will be chosen to re-record their winning scene at a professional recording studio in Johannesburg called EarCandy. Their voice work will then be shown on TV and online across Cartoon Network Africa, giving fans a unique opportunity to see and hear themselves on the channel.
For over ten years, Regular Show has been a popular show in South African homes, averaging 558,000 viewers each day on Cartoon Network Africa. It’s built a dedicated fanbase, with both children and adults enjoying the hilarious adventures of Mordecai and Rigby. This competition is a celebration of that fandom, giving fans the chance to add their own creativity and South African flavour to the show’s world. It’s all about fun, unexpected moments, and the kind of playful energy that Regular Show fans love.
Cartoon Network Africa is celebrating South African languages as part of its commitment to featuring more local content. This is happening through the “CN Your Way” campaign, which started last year with popular shows like The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball and Teen Titans Go! being dubbed into isiZulu.
Catch Regular Show: The Lost Tapes weekdays at 5:20 PM on Cartoon Network Africa (DStv 301), and then start practicing – you could become a Cartoon Network star! (even if just for a minute 😉). Plus, don’t miss the Regular Show: The Lost Tapes marathon on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 28th at 8:45 AM.
