In Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta reach incredible new levels of power, with Goku achieving Ultra Instinct and Vegeta unlocking Super Saiyan Blue Evolved. If the current movie, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, finishes in early 2027, the next season of Dragon Ball Super is expected to begin airing in late 2027 alongside the release of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. Throughout the Moro Saga, Goku remains the stronger of the two as he perfects Ultra Instinct, but that will change in the next story arc of the anime.
Vegeta, the Prince of all Saiyans, is set to reach new heights of power in Dragon Ball Super 2. He’ll unlock new transformations and finally become stronger than Goku. Currently, Vegeta is already more powerful than Goku, as shown in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, and he’ll begin the Black Frieza Saga as the stronger of the two. Dragon Ball Super 2 promises to be a turning point for Vegeta, allowing him to definitively surpass his rival.
Ultra Ego Vegeta Has More Potential Than Ultra Instinct Goku
Since the Tournament of Power, Goku has been constantly training to perfect Ultra Instinct and become as strong as he can be. While it seemed like Goku had become stronger than Vegeta by the end of the Dragon Ball Super anime, that’s about to change in the Dragon Ball Super: Granolah the Survivor saga. Vegeta will unlock a new form called Ultra Ego, which is a powerful transformation that grants him the immense power of a God of Destruction.
Ultra Ego dramatically increases Vegeta’s strength, and uniquely, he gets even stronger the longer a battle lasts. However, Vegeta struggles to control this immense power, causing him to tire out before finishing fights against opponents like Granolah and Gas. Even in its initial form, Ultra Ego puts Vegeta on equal footing with Goku when Goku is using True Ultra Instinct – and Goku can also boost his power with Super Saiyan transformations. With some practice, Vegeta using Ultra Ego will quickly become more powerful than Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct state.
Vegeta Will Officially Surpass Goku in Dragon Ball Super 2
The anime adaptation of the Granolah the Survivor Saga will finally show Vegeta reaching Goku’s level of strength. Later, when Dragon Ball Super 2 revisits the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Vegeta will actually win a fight against Goku. Following their defeat by Black Frieza, both Goku and Vegeta push their training to the limit. The Super Hero arc will feature a prolonged, all-out battle between the two, with a rule that neither can use transformations.
Eventually, Vegeta will become stronger than Goku. While they’re equally matched in their normal states, Vegeta has a slight edge in strength and is the more polished fighter. He wins by skillfully avoiding Goku’s final attack and delivering a decisive blow, though he collapses from exhaustion afterward. This marks the first time in a long time that Vegeta is definitively more powerful than Goku. As of Chapter 103 of Dragon Ball Super, Goku hasn’t demonstrated any progress in closing the gap, and Vegeta may actually be even more powerful than he appears.

Vegeta Might Be Even Stronger Than Gohan
In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, Gohan Beast battles Goku (in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form), Broly (as a Super Saiyan), and Vegeta (in Super Saiyan Blue Evolved). Gohan Beast managed to knock Goku out of Perfected Ultra Instinct during their fight and effortlessly tossed Broly around. Interestingly, Vegeta chooses to use Super Saiyan Blue Evolved instead of Ultra Ego when facing Gohan. Given that Vegeta doesn’t take opponents lightly, his decision to use SSBE suggests he believes it’s powerful enough to defeat Gohan Beast.
Based on current information, Ultra Ego Vegeta could potentially be as strong, or even stronger, than Gohan Beast. The creator, Toyotarou, has stated that the five main characters in Dragon Ball Super are all at roughly the same power level, meaning Vegeta’s Ultra Ego form is likely comparable to Gohan’s Beast form. While it may take some time, fans hope that when Dragon Ball Super 2 adapts the Super Hero saga, the anime will expand on the Super Saiyan battle from chapter 103. This would allow viewers to see Vegeta truly in action and finally understand how his power stacks up against Gohan and the other Saiyans.
