Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Fans Aren’t Happy About Hunting Animals

Recently, some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the animal hunting in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on social media. While concerns vary, many agree that the way hunting is implemented in the game feels unrealistic and detracts from the experience.

In late April, Ubisoft confirmed they are remaking the fourth main Assassin’s Creed game, with a planned release in July 2026. Recently, a few journalists got to play parts of the game for around two to three hours. Their first impressions, shared in previews of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, included new gameplay footage, such as Edward Kenway battling animals in the Caribbean.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Fans Criticize Wildlife Fights

Recent gameplay videos of the upcoming update have sparked some debate among fans. Many are concerned that the predators – like crocodiles and jaguars – fight too much like human enemies, with complex attacks and a lot of health. This leads to long, unrealistic battles where the player character, Edward, is stuck fighting animals in a way that feels more like a challenging boss fight from a game like Dark Souls than a natural hunt. One user on X summed up the feeling, asking why a crocodile would fight with such advanced moves, suggesting this approach doesn’t quite fit the style of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

How Hunting Worked in the Original Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag

The first Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag had exciting animal hunts, but they worked differently than in later versions. Players were encouraged to sneak up on big predators for instant takedowns from above. If stealth wasn’t possible – like with crocodiles or monkeys – Edward Kenway had to hunt them from afar using guns or a blowpipe.

Okay, so I’ve been following the chatter about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and a lot of the complaints seem to be about how the combat’s changed. Apparently, it’s now much easier to just fight enemies instead of sneaking around, which is a big shift from the original. While more combat options usually sound good, people are running into some… unusual situations, like Edward parrying a jaguar! Ubisoft has shown off a lot about the remake, but they haven’t said if you’ll still be able to assassinate animals like in the original game. Still, they’ve repeatedly said they want to stay true to the spirit of Black Flag and add to it, not completely change it. That makes me hopeful that animal assassinations might still be a thing, which would be awesome!
