Chapter 34 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, titled “Used To It,” was released today, May 20, 2026, in Shuesha’s V-Jump Issue #7. The chapter focuses on what happens after the battle between the Konoha shinobi and Mamushi. Supervisor Masashi Kishimoto and illustrator/writer Mikio Ikemoto highlighted the next generation of ninjas, who came through the difficult fight relatively unharmed. While Boruto Uzumaki received most of the attention, Sarada Uchiha also played a significant role in the chapter.
Sarada Uchiha’s appearance helped bring Sakura Haruno back into the spotlight, and fans have been waiting for this for twelve years! After only appearing briefly for a while, Sakura finally received significant character development in the latest chapter, strengthening her story as both a ninja and Sarada’s mother. Kishimoto and Ikemoto, the series authors, delivered on a long-awaited request.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 Officially Brings Back Sakura Haruno With Added Characterization As A Shinobi And A Mother
In the latest chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, released on March 20, 2026, Sarada was seriously injured after using her Mangekyo Sharingan. She collapsed and her eye was nearly destroyed immediately after using the Ohirume Jutsu to defeat Mamushi. While Himawari quickly healed the initial injuries, Sarada remained unconscious until the events of chapter 34.
The story now focuses on Sakura and her daughter, Sarada, who is experiencing worsening eyesight. Sarada has been overusing a powerful technique called the Mangekyo Sharingan to protect her friends and family, driven by her love for them. Unfortunately, this power comes with a dangerous consequence: eventual, irreversible blindness.
Just as I suspected, this prescription isn’t correct. Your vision has gotten significantly worse. Using the Mangekyō Sharingan always carries this risk – the more you rely on it, the more damage it does to your eyesight. The specific effects depend on how the technique is used, but if you continue like this, you’ll eventually lose your sight completely. — Sakura Haruno, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 34 Sneak Peek
Fans anticipated Sakura would stop her daughter from using her special ability, but the latest chapter took everyone by surprise. Instead of scolding Sarada, Sakura fully supported her decision to use the power to protect those she cares about, even if it meant permanent blindness. Having been a shinobi for over a decade, as shown in the original Naruto manga, Sakura understands the dedication it takes to defend loved ones. She recognized that Sarada’s determination was genuine, and instead of letting her emotions as a mother dictate things, Sakura encouraged her daughter to continue using the power, emphasizing that it stemmed from her strong will and shouldn’t be abandoned.
I won’t ask you to give up. This power you have – it’s something you created yourself, born from your need to be strong enough to achieve and defend what matters to you.
I was really blown away by Chapter 34 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, especially how it handled Sakura. It was amazing to see her in that tough spot, balancing being a mom with her life as a Shinobi. She straight-up told Sarada to be like Sasuke and Itachi, even if everyone in the world criticizes her for it – and let’s be real, they have been for the last three years! It really added a lot of depth to her character, seeing her so fiercely encourage Sarada to follow her own path, regardless of what others think.
When Sakura excused herself to help another patient, we saw tears welling up in her eyes. These tears showed how much she cares for her daughter and wants her to be okay, but Sakura quickly composed herself. She understands Sarada is her own person with her own strong will, especially as a ninja. While it hurts as a mother to see Sarada face challenges, Sakura respects her daughter’s determination, and this makes both of their characters even stronger.
Sarada, always remember that I have complete faith in both you and your father, no matter what happens! And honestly, I’m quite used to people talking about my own family.
How Ikemoto’s New Sakura Moment Improved Her Overall Character Arc In Boruto
Sakura Haruno hasn’t played a major role in the Boruto series until now, with only brief appearances. Chapter 34 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex finally gives her a significant moment, and it’s a fantastic portrayal. Sakura has often faced criticism from fans, sometimes unfairly. In this chapter, Kishimoto and Ikemoto expertly showcase both her nurturing side as a mother and her understanding as a skilled ninja, creating a well-rounded and compelling character.
This chapter was a major turning point for Sakura’s character, and readers are eager to see her development continue in future installments. With the new story arc underway, it’s hoped that Sakura will continue to grow as a character in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which would be fantastic considering Naruto and Sasuke are currently unavailable.

Sakura’s Role In The Future Of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex focuses on the adventures of a new generation of ninja. While fans shouldn’t expect Sakura to be a central fighter in major battles, there’s still a great opportunity to develop her as a strong supporting character. She possesses the power to fight challenging opponents and help her daughter and other young ninjas become the best.
With Naruto and Sasuke unavailable, Sakura is perfectly suited to take the lead, especially with the upcoming storyline where Code plans to kidnap Sarada to get to Boruto. As Sarada’s mother, she should be at the forefront of the rescue mission. This would highlight both her combat skills and her deep love for her daughter, establishing her as a strong and protective parent in the new arc.
Kashin Koji reveals that Code abandoned his fight with Boruto when he realized he couldn’t win. Instead, he’s kidnapped Sarada, intending to use her as leverage. He plans to take her to the Shinju, hoping Boruto will come after her, falling into his trap.
The latest story arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which started on May 20, 2026, will probably continue to feature Sakura Haruno, though likely in a supporting role. She won’t be the main focus, as her personal story has already concluded and this arc centers on her daughter and other characters. However, fans are happy to see a familiar face from the original Naruto series receiving attention in Two Blue Vortex, and hope she continues to appear throughout the new story.
New chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, created by Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto, are now available on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
