Season 3 of Battlefield 6 added four new weapons, but they’re actually familiar favorites from Battlefield 3! Players can now use the M16A4 assault rifle (with an optional A3 version), the RPK-74M light machine gun, and the L115 sniper rifle. The fourth weapon is the PP19 Vityaz SMG, which is similar to the PP19 Bizon from older Battlefield games. Read on to learn how these weapons perform and how to unlock them.
M16A4 Assault Rifle
- Damage: 25 (16 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 771 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 720m/s
- Unlocked via Battle Pass (Tiger Shark T10)
Okay, so the M16A4 is the first burst-fire rifle they added to Battlefield 6. Honestly, it’s pretty middle-of-the-road stat-wise, and playing with it feels a lot like using the DRS-IAR – similar handling and performance. The burst delay makes it a bit trickier up close than the DRS, but thankfully you can slap the A3 Receiver on it and turn it into a full-auto beast, which is a huge relief!
A fully automatic M16 in Battlefield 6 is a strong contender against most weapons, though it struggles at extremely close range against guns like the VCR, TR-7, and SCW-10. It’s surprisingly easy to control with just a few attachments and stays accurate even when firing for extended periods. The main drawback is the A3 Receiver, which takes up a significant 25 attachment points, leaving you with fewer choices for customizing your weapon.
RPK-74M Machine Gun
- Damage: 20 (14 minimum at range)
- Fire Rate: 685 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 1050 m/s
- Unlocked via Battle Pass (Warlord Hunters T10)
The RPK-74M is a light machine gun that resembles other rifles like the DRS-IAR and RPKM. However, it performs more like the AK-205 Carbine. Both the RPK-74M and AK-205 deal the same amount of damage with each bullet (20), although the RPK-74M maintains better accuracy and damage at a distance. Importantly, both guns have very little recoil, making them easy to control.
Although the RPK-74M doesn’t fire as quickly as the AK-205, its bullets travel much faster, making it easier to hit targets that are moving and far away. You can think of it as a quicker-firing version of the KTS100 and RPKM machine guns. While it’s not the absolute fastest weapon in BF6, the RPK-74M excels at medium to long ranges thanks to its very low recoil, consistent fire rate, and reliable damage. It’s a remarkably easy gun to use and incredibly accurate.
L115 Sniper Rifle
- Damage: 100
- Fire Rate: 46 RPM
- Muzzle Velocity: 703 m/s
- Sweet Spot Range: 120–175m
- Unlocked via Battle Pass (Recruit T5)
The L115, based on the AWM, is a bolt-action sniper rifle that offers a good balance within the game’s options. A headshot will always bring down an enemy, but even body shots are effective at medium to long ranges – specifically between 120 and 175 meters. This is the widest effective range of any sniper rifle in Battlefield 6 currently, although it does have one significant drawback.
Even though the L115 is a long-range rifle in Battlefield 6, its bullets travel slower than any other sniper rifle. This makes it more difficult to hit targets that are moving, especially at its optimal range of 120–175 meters. On the plus side, the L115 has the second-fastest firing rate of any weapon in its class – 46 rounds per minute, just behind the Mini Scout’s 47 RPM. Players can also use 7-round magazines with this rifle.
The PP19 Vityaz submachine gun isn’t released yet. It will become available when the Cairo Bazaar map launches with Phase 2 of Battlefield 6 Season 3 in early June.
