If you’re playing Subnautica 2 and see a “Warning: Crush Depth. Hull Damage Imminent” message while driving the Tadpole, it means you’ve gone too deep and the vehicle is taking damage. To dive deeper without getting crushed, you’ll need to install the Tadpole Depth Module upgrade.
How To Go Deeper With The Tadpole In Subnautica 2
If you don’t install the Tadpole Depth Module upgrade, you’ll receive a warning when you reach a depth of 250 meters. Continuing to descend past this point will gradually damage the Tadpole, requiring repairs.
First, open the Habitat Builder. Then, select the Modification Station from the Interior Facilities section. You can build the Tadpole Depth Module there, but make sure you’ve unlocked it beforehand.
After crafting the upgrade module, move your cursor over the small compartment on the back of the Tadpole. Put the Tadpole Depth Module inside to install the upgrade. Keep in mind that you can only have one module active at a time – they don’t combine.
The Tadpole submersible can normally dive to a depth of 250 meters. With the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1, it can reach 450 meters. The Mk. 2 module allows for even deeper dives. I tested it at the starting hole and successfully reached the bottom, at a depth of 753 meters.
How To Unlock Tadpole Depth Module Upgrade In Subnautica 2
Continue with the main quest until you reach the Alien Ruins, which marks the entrance to the next area. This area is very hot, so you’ll need to get the heat resistance upgrade in Subnautica 2 before you can go there.
Turn to 165 degrees – that’s generally south – and walk about 300 meters. You’re looking for a marker labeled ‘Blackbox – Ruby 2’ as part of the mission.
At around 200m deep, you should find a hole.
Continue going down. You’ll know you’ve reached the correct location when you see a glowing stick near the opening. These sticks mark where people lived in the past.
Just below where you opened the previous container, you’ll find the remains of a Tadpope Haul Chassis and a recipe card. Open the card to learn how to craft the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1.
