The team behind ARC Raiders is switching from regular monthly updates to focus on delivering larger, more significant improvements. They’re also sharing a preview of what’s coming, including a new vendor and what they’re calling their biggest update so far. While its initial hype has cooled, ARC Raiders is still a very popular extraction shooter, and recent reports show it continues to have a large and engaged player base, making it a commercial success.
Since its release last year, ARC Raiders has consistently received monthly updates, keeping the gameplay fresh for players. While not every addition was a huge hit, most players appreciated the ongoing changes, including new enemies, items, and areas to explore. With the April launch of Riven Tides completing the initial roadmap, players were curious about the future of the game. Now, Embark has revealed its plans, giving fans a clearer picture of what’s coming for ARC Raiders.
ARC Raiders Moves Away From Monthly Updates
Embark Studios recently shared an update on the future of ARC Raiders with its community. The biggest change? They’re moving away from releasing major updates every month. While monthly updates were meant to keep the game exciting, Embark realized this pace was too demanding for both players and the development team. Instead, they plan to release two larger, more impactful updates each year. These updates will significantly change the gameplay experience and allow the studio to achieve its long-term goals for ARC Raiders.
Embark is building excitement for their upcoming October release, Frozen Trail, by giving fans a sneak peek. They’re calling it their biggest update yet, and it will include a huge, multi-layered map full of new areas and secrets to discover. Players can look forward to battling new types of ARC enemies with unique abilities, pursuing new progression goals, and a revamped skill tree. The update will also reveal more about the origins of the ARC machines, along with a host of new weapons, equipment, cosmetic items, and loot.
Beyond the big updates, the game will receive ongoing support from a live operations team. They’ll constantly improve the experience by addressing balance issues, fixing bugs, updating the store, running player events, and releasing smaller updates. Next week, a new Trader will arrive in Speranza for players level 25 and above. This Trader will offer rotating weekly rewards in exchange for valuable or rare items. Players can also unlock two new perks: Extra Stash, which increases storage space, and Expedition Vault, allowing them to carry up to five items over into Expeditions.

These changes are designed to ensure the long-term development of the game. Embark has hinted at significant improvements to progression that weren’t feasible with the previous monthly update schedule. This new approach will allow them to expand the world of ARC Raiders and even potentially show humans retaking the surface in the future. The ‘Frozen Trail’ update marks the start of this new direction for both Embark and players, and while they understand not everyone will be happy with this change, the development team believes it will ultimately benefit the game.
