ARC Raiders Fixes Crossplay Issues With New Update for April 30

Embark Studios released a new update for ARC Raiders today, April 30th, to fix a problem that was preventing players on different platforms from playing together. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, this update – version 1.26.1 – comes shortly after the release of the Riven Tides expansion and includes a few bug fixes and improvements.

This week, Embark launched the Riven Tides update for ARC Raiders, completing their planned content for 2026. However, the update also appears to have broken the game’s crossplay feature. Players quickly reported on social media that the crossplay setting was disabled and couldn’t be turned back on, preventing them from playing with friends on different platforms and making it impossible to find matches across platforms.

ARC Raiders Rolls Out Update 1.26.1

Embark quickly responded to a bug that broke crossplay in ARC Raiders and provided a temporary workaround. Now, a permanent fix is being released to all players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC as part of update 1.26.1. This update not only restores crossplay functionality but also resolves several game crashes. The developers have also corrected some visual issues with backpack colors and are continuing to work on fixing other crashes in a future update.

Patch 1.26.1 doesn’t include any new content, but the game ARC Raiders recently received a major update called Riven Tides. This free update added a lot to the shooter, including a new map – also named Riven Tides – a powerful new enemy called Turbine, and many new items. Players can also try the new Beachcombing Map Condition, unique to Riven Tides, where they can use metal detectors to find rewards on the beach.

The recent Riven Tides update also kicks off the third Expedition for ARC Raiders, launching on May 11th. Players wanting a fresh start with some perks – like more storage space and up to five extra Skill Points – need to contribute to their Caravan before leaving the Rust Belt next month. This Expedition has some changes: you no longer need to spend resources for Skill Points, but you will need to deal 100,000 damage before May 11th to earn all five Skill Points.

The number of players enjoying ARC Raiders had been falling recently, but the new Riven Tides update seems to have brought some back. SteamDB data shows the game now averages around 135,000 players at its busiest times, up from 80,000 to 95,000. However, this is still lower than the game’s initial launch numbers in February, when ARC Raiders (then known as Shrouded Sky) had over 250,000 players at peak times.
