While other Saiyans might be more powerful now, Goku remains the most skilled fighter in the entire Dragon Ball series. He’s a natural talent with incredible instincts. Even in defeat, Goku fights valiantly and motivates others to improve. He doesn’t rely on innate power alone; Goku achieves his greatest wins through dedication, relentless training, and constantly exceeding his own boundaries, allowing him to overcome even the most formidable opponents.
Throughout the Dragon Ball series, Goku has achieved some incredible victories. He’s defeated gods, demons, immortal creatures, and even other Saiyans. Now that he’s fully mastered Ultra Instinct, Goku is at his peak power and is likely to face Black Frieza again when the Dragon Ball Super manga continues. It seems there’s no opponent he can’t handle.
8. Goku Killed Kid Buu, The Most Dangerous Majin in Existence
I’ve always thought Kid Buu was less about raw power than pure, unpredictable danger. While other forms of Majin Buu had some level of thought, Kid Buu just acted, like a wild animal. It was terrifying to watch him obliterate Earth in moments, seemingly just for the fun of it. He was incredibly erratic, never tiring, and focused solely on destruction. Goku, in his Super Saiyan 3 form, could have defeated him, but that transformation drains energy so quickly. Goku just couldn’t maintain the necessary power level long enough to finish the fight before exhaustion set in.
Vegeta suggests a plan, and Goku gathers energy from all his allies – the Z-Fighters and the Namekians – to create a massive Spirit Bomb. With Mr. Satan’s help uniting the people of Earth, Goku gains the power of every human as well. But even that isn’t enough to defeat Kid Buu. Ultimately, Goku defeats Buu by combining Porunga’s restored energy with his own Super Saiyan power, delivering a final, devastating Spirit Bomb push.
7. Goku Beat Golden Frieza into Submission
After training for four months, Frieza reached a level of power that exceeded Super Saiyan Blue. While his Golden Frieza form is more powerful than Super Saiyan Blue Goku in theory, Frieza had two weaknesses: he hadn’t built up the stamina to maintain his Golden form for long, and Goku is simply the more skilled fighter. Goku strategically waited for Frieza to tire himself out before taking complete control of the battle.
The latter part of the fight between SSB Goku and Golden Frieza mostly shows Goku relentlessly overpowering Frieza until he’s completely defeated. While Goku wins, Sorbet unexpectedly shoots him, temporarily knocking him out. After Vegeta’s attempt to finish Frieza fails and Frieza destroys Earth, Whis uses his ability to rewind time, giving Goku another chance. Goku quickly powers up and unleashes a Kamehameha, completely destroying Frieza and preventing him from blowing up Earth again.
6. Goku Finished Off Copy-Vegeta After a Hard Fight
The Commeson is a strange weapon developed by the people of Planet Potaufeu to protect themselves from enemies. It works by completely taking over someone’s powers, skills, and even their personality, essentially erasing the original person. In the Dragon Ball Super anime, this happens to Vegeta in a side story called the Copy-Vegeta arc, where an exact duplicate is created. Goku is the only one powerful enough to battle this copy and survive.
The Commeson device makes Copy-Vegeta equally as powerful as the real Vegeta, without any downsides. During their fight, Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Copy-Vegeta are perfectly matched. However, when Monaka accidentally steps on the Commeson, Copy-Vegeta gets briefly weaker, allowing Goku to finally defeat him. This is the only time Goku has ever beaten Vegeta in a fight that was shown on screen.
5. Goku Overpowered Hit Completely in the Dragon Ball Super Manga
The Dragon Ball Super manga and anime portray character strength quite differently. In the manga, drawn by Toyotarou, Goku is significantly more powerful, particularly when using Super Saiyan Blue. The anime showed Goku needing to combine Super Saiyan Blue with the Kaioken technique just to compete with Hit. However, in the manga, Goku easily defeats Hit using only his Super Saiyan Blue and other God forms. He’s so strong that he even bypasses Hit’s time-skipping ability.
Even though Goku technically loses the fight in the manga, it’s obvious he was the stronger fighter. Once Goku transforms into Super Saiyan Blue, he completely dominates Hit, easily overpowering him and nearly defeating him with a massive Kamehameha wave. From that point on, Hit never manages to gain an advantage. If the fight hadn’t been stopped, Goku would have clearly won, either by forcing Hit out of the ring or knocking him out. Even a glancing blow from Goku’s Kamehameha significantly injures Hit.

4. Goku Almost Kills Fused Zamasu With a Hakai in the Dragon Ball Super Manga
Similar to his fight with Hit, Goku is significantly more powerful against Fused Zamasu in the Dragon Ball Super manga. Despite Fused Zamasu being a combination of Zamasu and Goku Black – possessing all of Goku’s skills – Goku is able to overcome him by fully mastering Super Saiyan Blue and utilizing all of its divine energy. This perfected form gives Goku a huge power increase and solves the energy drain issues that were previously present.
Super Saiyan Blue Goku proved more effective against Fused Zamasu than Vegito did. Even though Zamasu couldn’t be killed normally, Goku was able to visibly hurt him with every hit. He almost destroyed Zamasu completely using a quick, self-taught technique that erased half of his body, but was stopped by Zamasu taking Mai hostage. Ultimately, Goku still won, as the fusion between the two Zamasu quickly fell apart after Goku was forced to retreat.
3. Goku Defeated Legendary Super Saiayn 2 Kefla By Awakening Ultra Instinct in the Dragon Ball Super Anime
Kefla is noticeably more powerful in the Dragon Ball Super anime compared to the manga. While she’s roughly at the level of Ultimate Gohan in the manga, the anime portrays her as strong enough to push Goku to use Ultra Instinct Sign again, placing her in a similar power class as Jiren.
Because Caulifla achieves Super Saiyan 2 in the anime, Kefla effectively battles Ultra Instinct Sign Goku while in her Legendary Super Saiyan 2 state. Even in this form, Kefla is strong enough to put up a serious fight against Goku. Goku doesn’t defeat her with overwhelming power, but by outfighting her with superior skill and instincts. He deflects her Gigantic Burst using his own energy, and then defeats her with a well-timed Kamehameha wave.
2. Goku Just Barely Beats Jiren Thanks to Frieza in the Tournament of Power
In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Jiren is significantly more powerful, even able to overcome and defeat Goku while he’s using Ultra Instinct. However, the anime version of the story is different. In the anime, Ultra Instinct Goku successfully fights Jiren to the point of almost winning. Ultimately, Goku’s body can’t handle the strain of the transformation, but he still manages to secure a victory.
With Jiren worn out, Goku and Frieza can finally inflict real damage on him, even without transforming. The battle in Dragon Ball Super Episode 131 is truly amazing. They gradually weaken Jiren, forcing him to the edge of the arena, until Goku knocks him out with a powerful final transformation. Although Goku is eliminated in the process, he ensures Jiren loses too, securing victory for Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power.
1. Goku Utterly Destroyed Ultra Instinct Moro
Moro is the main villain in the Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, which will be released after the Dragon Ball Super remake. He’s considered Goku’s strongest opponent to date. In the Dragon Ball Super manga, Goku explicitly states that Moro is more powerful than anyone he’s ever faced, surpassing even Legendary Super Saiyan Broly and the Beerus Goku fought early in the series.
Goku’s win against Moro is remarkable because he defeats him with seemingly little effort. His perfected Ultra Instinct isn’t just about power and speed; it makes him incredibly resilient. Moro actually breaks his own hand trying to punch Goku, and then suffers massive damage from every counterattack. Moro briefly gains an advantage by rejecting Ultra Instinct – a situation similar to what Goku experienced in the Tournament of Power – and by merging with the Earth. However, thanks to Vegeta’s Forced Spirit Fission and Uub’s divine energy, Goku is finally able to destroy Moro with a single, decisive blow.
