FH6: How to Fix Car Damage (and Toggle Car Damage Settings)

If you enjoy playing Forza Horizon 6 โ€“ I’ve been really into the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, a great drag car โ€“ you’ll probably see your vehicles getting damaged. This is especially true if you’ve been crashing into things while searching for the hidden Barn Finds and Treasure Cars.

As a Forza Horizon 6 fan, I was so excited to discover you can really customize how car damage works! You can completely turn off the visual damage if you just want to cruise around and not worry about dents, but if you’re like me and want a more realistic experience, you can enable damage that actually affects how your car handles and performs โ€“ things like tire grip and engine power. This guide walks you through how to change those settings, so you can play exactly how you want!

Turning Off Car Damage in Forza Horizon 6

Make Your Car Shine Again

In Forza Horizon 6, if your car looks heavily damaged, you can change how much visual damage appears in the game. Just pause the game and go to Settings under the Campaign tab.

Inside the settings menu, find the “Difficulty Settings” and scroll down to “Damage & Tire Wear.” There, you’ll find three different options to choose from.

  • None
    • Choosing ‘None’ means your car will have no visible damage at all, no matter how hard you crash it.
  • Cosmetic
    • If you choose ‘Cosmetic,’ your car will show signs of wear and tear (including cracked windows), but it won’t affect the vehicle’s performance.
  • Simulation
    • And if you choose ‘Simulation,’ your car will show wear and tear, and the damage will affect its performance.

How to Quickly Reset Cosmetic Damage in FH6

To quickly take a clean photo of your car without adjusting settings, press the up button on the D-pad, then press LB or L1 to remove any cosmetic damage. Keep in mind that this will permanently repair the damage, even after you exit photo mode.
