Sky Lanterns are only visible in Forza Horizon 6 at night during the Fall season (called Autumn within the game). You can’t directly change the season in the game’s settings or photo mode, but you can force a season change by creating a custom challenge using the EventLab within the Creative Hub menu.
How to Find Sky Lanterns in Forza Horizon 6
Northeast of the stadium in the Shimanoyama region of Forza Horizon 6, you’ll discover a campsite with several tents and characters. The images above pinpoint the exact spot. Usually, you’ll see kites flying above, but if you play during Autumn at night, you’ll see beautiful Sky Lanterns instead.
In Forza Horizon 6, the seasons switch every Thursday, and it’s currently summer in the game. But if you want to temporarily change the season, here’s a workaround.
How to Brute Force a Season Change in Forza Horizon 6
You can find the Horizon EventLab by opening the main menu and selecting the Creative Hub. This is where you can explore events created by other players, or build your own and customize details like the time and season.
We discovered a strange issue: when we create our own Sky Lantern event in Shimanoyama, we can’t access photo mode to take pictures. Interestingly, photo mode does work when we join an event created by another player.
You can use a design code shared by YouTuber Jumpycode to create an Autumnal Nighttime route near the Sky Lantern tents (204464051) in Forza Horizon 6. Here’s how to apply it:
- Go to the main menu.
- Go to the Creative Hub.
- Click on Eventlab.
- Choose to Play Challenges.
- Hit the associated Search button at the bottom.
- Leave all the fields in the search box alone, except for the Share Code box.
- For the code, use ‘204464051.’
- Choose the route that’s specifically for the Sky Lanterns photo.
- Once the event starts, hit up on the directional pad to enter photo mode and snap a pic of the Sky Lanterns above the tents to get yourself 100 Discover Japan points.
