The Eikon String Quartet has started a Kickstarter campaign to fund their first album, Heroes of Midgar: A Tribute to Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 7 has been a popular and highly-rated role-playing game for almost 30 years, and it has a dedicated fan base worldwide. Both the original game and its remake are celebrated for their compelling story, exciting gameplay, and memorable music.
So, back in 2025, the Eikon String Quartet tried to fund an album called Heroes of Midgar on Kickstarter – it was a tribute to the music from the Final Fantasy series, which I totally loved! Unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit its goal. They were aiming for $12,000, but only raised about $6,600. It was a bummer, but they didn’t give up and said they were still working on it, hoping to try the Kickstarter again sometime.
Heroes of Midgar: A Tribute to Final Fantasy 7 Gets a Second Kickstarter Campaign
Okay, so this awesome group, Eikon String Quartet, is trying to fund their first album on Kickstarter, and it’s a tribute to Final Fantasy 7! It’s called Heroes of Midgar, and they’re doing string quartet versions of all the best character themes. The first time they tried this, it was a bit rough, but this time around, things are looking way better. They’ve already got over $7,500 pledged out of their $12,000 goal, with 130 backers and counting! Plus, if you chip in, you get cool rewards – you can snag a physical and digital copy of the album for just $15. Seriously, if you’re a FF7 fan like me, you should check it out!
So, I caught this awesome concert by the Eikon String Quartet back in 2024. They were playing arrangements of music from Final Fantasy 7 as part of a Nashville Symphony show called Mystic Worlds. It was seriously cool – really reminded me of those epic FF7 orchestra concerts Square Enix puts on. The quartet is hoping to get enough funding to expand the show, and they’re planning to add even more tracks – like the main theme, and music for Yuffie, Barret, Tifa, and even Aerith. I’m really hoping they get the funding – it would be amazing to hear all those classic themes!
