In the realm of RuneScape Dragonwilds, you’ll find a rich variety of wildlife and strange creatures that yield rare resources useful for crafting equipment and advancing your gameplay. One of the initial tasks you’re given is to hunt a deer, as the Old Wise Man needs its antlers. However, this quest would have been straightforward if only the deer in this game weren’t so elusive when it comes to players. Here’s a guide on how to catch a deer in RuneScape Dragonwilds and retrieve its antlers.
Crafting a Bow
To start off my adventure in RuneScape Dragonwilds, I’ve got to craft myself a trusty bow before I can set out for some deer hunting. It might take some getting used to at first when it comes to crafting this bow, but with a bit of practice and patience, I’ll be whipping up higher-level bows like a pro in no time!
Initially, gather some blue flower plants known as Flax from the Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley regions on the map. Once you’ve amassed a sufficient quantity, construct a Spinning Wheel within your base. Building this requires 4 pieces of Flax, 12 Ash Logs, and 2 Stones. Afterward, utilize the remaining Flax in the Spinning Wheel to produce Course Threads.
After gathering your course threads, you’ll be able to create a recipe for an Ash Shortbow. To do this, just make your way to your workbench and construct the bow using 12 Ash Logs and 3 Course Threads. Once the bow is made, remember to also craft some ammunition for it. I suggest creating Fang Arrows which need 1 Ash Log, 1 Feather, and 1 Small Animal Fang.
Fang Arrows are more effective at inflicting damage, making it possible for players to potentially kill a deer with just one well-placed shot to the head.
Hunting a Deer to Get Antlers in RuneScape Dragonwilds

After getting your bow and arrows, it is advisable to stealthily move towards a calm deer at a gradual pace. It’s best to do this in a low stance, as crouching minimizes the noise you make and decreases the area within which deer can detect you.
When you’re near enough, go ahead and fire a well-prepared shot at the deer’s head to bring it down. After it falls, you’ll acquire some Fresh Wild Meat, Bone Fragments, Hide, and an Antler as byproducts. If you need more antlers, just aim and shoot at more deer.
You can now make your way to the Wise Elder and hand him the deer antlers, which will help advance your Dragon Slayer Quest within the game, RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
